No detailed notes unfortunately but wrote down that it was an excellent beer. Look forward to trying it again. (re-rate from bottle: not much of a nose on this except for a hint of hops. solid bitter aftertaste tho and a nice hint of licorice-sweetness. decent, even if not outstanding). illinismitty (1795), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Draft at Elysian Fields in Seattle. Pours an orange amber with an off-white head. Caramel and grapefruit aroma, with some slight skunk. Flavor of caramel, toffee, and citrus with a dry and slightly astringent finish. Very little if at all residual sweetness. Not really my type of ESB, and my least favorite of the sampler. jhumphries69 (722), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2007 Pours a clear orange/amber with a medium-sized off-white head that laces the glass. The aroma is an excellent mix of sweet honey and crystal malts combined with earthy, perfumy, pungent hops. The flavor is less appealing than the aroma: bitter from earthy and spicy hops, but also very grainy, There are some notes of sweet malts in the middle, but the end is again grainy. The finish is dry and bitter with spicy hops. The mouthfeel is mostly medium in body with an unusually big bite from the carbonation. Overall, it could have been better - perhaps the keg from which my sampler was poured was old and no longer fresh... scrizzz (1266), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2007 Sharp, oily, (i.e. WONDERFUL) bitterness balances quickly with the malt backbone and stays on the back of the tongue. Yummy. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2007 Body is a nice amber with a loose off white head. Aroma is a sweet tea like smell, with a present hoppiness. Taste is pretty hoppy, of the floral variety, followed by a caramel background. Pretty straight forward, and good. dwyerpg (2529), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2007 This beer made it 3 for 3 with company on my trip. A nice light hop aroma and an incredibly hoppy flavor fo the style. Doesn’t seem to really fit it, but it’s quite enjoyable nonetheless. Nate (2538), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jul 30, 2007 Draught sample at brewery. Mild biscuit malt aroma with neutral fruity hops, overall a mild aroma. Amber-orange clear with thin off-white head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Good biscuit malt sweetness with light funky character. Meidum fruity bitter with light resin, medium bitter finish, and nutty chalky after. Funky wet canvas note, lactic? Decent bitter but a little harsh at the finish.
