Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 25, 2006 Amber orange ale with a thin white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with light C-hops. In mouth, a light sweet malt with floral hops, burned caramel and a smooth medium body. Mondial 2006. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Jun 19, 2006 (On cask at the PP Real Ale Festival 2006) Pours with an orange-amber body topped by a thick creamy head with a good amount of lacing. It’s bitter and piney with an underlying malty sweetness. Medium bodied and smooth. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 15, 2006 Bomber. Pours a clear orange amber with a lacy beige head. The aroma is oranges, toffee and a bit of yeast. Creamy medium body with light-ish carbonation. Taste is lightly sweet with toffee, fruit and grapefruit. Lighty bitter finish with a bit of aftertaste. Nicely balanced, with the hops supporting a malty backbone. HopDevil1979 (117), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 5, 2006 Smells of bad oranges and yeast. Pours dark and hazy – an extremely shadowy amber hue. Head was but one inch and was gone before I knew it. It has got the bitters, but its not knocking me over the head. Aftertaste lingers a bit too long and tastes of alcohol A solid ESB to give the nod, but not to write home about. MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 5, 2006 Dry, wooden hoppiness heralds American, not British, intensity...Lean-bodied butterscotch maltiness is able to lift the orangey, earthy hops and their generous bittering...Equilibrium is reached, but somehow interest isn’t... jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Jun 5, 2006 Nice copper/amber color with an ample tan head. Aroma is hoppy, so is the taste. Taste is a blend of hoppiness, malt, caramel, and fruity tones. Nicely balanced flavor in this esb. GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Jun 2, 2006 New brewery i discover at the Mondial de la biere in Montreal...
Aroma:Good caramel aroma...
Appearance:cooper,good head...
Flavor:Caramel, butter, light bitterness.. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA May 19, 2006 Finally rating this one...on cask from Tangletown. Yummy...This is one of my favs to sip on at Elysian. Amber with very little head. A very hoppy ESB, which is probably why I dig it so much...a good balance of malt. You could definitely consider this a "dark IPA".
