smprochak (23), Washington, USA Mar 28, 2009 Very good. Not especially bitter as other esb’s, but still delicious. Perfect as a drink after a stressful day at work. stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 24, 2009 I might be a huge beer geek, but I really kind of want this label as a tattoo. But anyways a very good bitter, one of my favorite. Pours a wonderful golden hue, very earthy hop profile. The hops are soft unlike an IPA, the result is bitter without that being THE taste. Malty throughout. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours nice tan amber with lingering head. Mild aroma but has a nice balance of hops and sweetness (vanilla and mild caramel). Smooth with clean finish. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Mar 17, 2009 Tap at Tangletown; not a complex bitterness, very relaxed; more malty then I expected and a bit flat. (#51) Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Mar 12, 2009 22oz bottle from Liquid solutions. Pours a medium murky brown with a 2 finger beige head. Nose of toasted malts, and some herbal and citrus hops. Flavor is very roasty with a good balance of bitter hops. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Mar 2, 2009 Dirty brown honey colored body. Oxidized crystal malt nose with a surprisingly striking amount of sharp, pungent and stale noble-like hop scents. I could not have guessed Cascade had any part to do with this beer, but Chinook for bittering makes complete sense, just have to adjust your taste around the unnecessary oxidized caramel character. Bitter, pungent and messy. I ended up pouring most of this out. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 13, 2009 Bottle from Whole Foods Portland. Very hoppy smell because this is basically a red. And a fine one. Bright appley malts balance very bright and green hops nicely. Liked it a great deal! willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jan 30, 2009 20090130 Bomber from Spirits RB. Dark copper colored with small, lingering beige head that laces. Pine forest aromas, earthy with light notes of tobacco and those candied fruitcake fruits. Medium-full and coating on the palate, yet with quenching, tempered bitterness. Nice pine and resin notes, earthy malts, some tea hints, lingering bitterness.
