Well that was a helpful rating. Lots of sugar, malty. Thanks. Appreciate the effort. This one sadly was seemingly past its prime. Nose is soured, good dose of vinegar and brine with sweet darker fruity undertones and those sugars. Pours darker brown with soft red highlights. The flavor to me is mostly brine, vinegar, cardboard, and oxidized dark fruits. Parts of this reminded me of the Icarus that was on tap a couple years ago and how that one aged. Would really like to try this fresh as it sounds very interesting.

Dark brown pour, small head. Aroma is sweet, slight burn and a hint of dark fruit and spice. Flavor has a faint bitterness and a nice caramel and molasses sweetness. Alcohol well hidden on the mouthfeel and nice body.

On tap earlier this year in April @ the Cap Hill location. Pours a deep mahogany reddish brown with a bit of a tannish head. Lots of sweet malts and nuttyness in the nose. Flavor is a bit all over: roasty, nutty, yet, sweet, dark, and fruity. Doesn’t really discern which direction it trying to go, but has bold flavors enough to make it a good sipping brew. Alcohol is present a tiny bit. Finishes on a fairly bitter hop presence with booze. Not one of ther best Elysian experiments, but definitely worth a shot if you come across it!

Deep brown beer, thin head. The aroma is quite nutty and fruity. Dark malts and a bit of orange peel. Toasted grain and a lightly herbal chocolatey character as well. Some unusual blueberry and blackberry fruitness that I quite like. A nice combination of dark malts and dark fruits.

on tap at the Blind Tiger. Brown in color with ruby highlights. Aroma: molasses, some dark fruit, and perhaps a hint of chocolate and a hint of earthy hops. Taste is molasses, dark fruit, a hint of chocolate, with a light leafy hop presence and a moderately bitter finish. Medium body, easy drinking for the ABV.

Fruity dried dates adn raison flavor with brown sugar, ligth nutty roasted malts, burnt bread, and sharp dark stewed malts. Finish is pretty smooth and is fairly clean- medium green hoppy bitterness in the end.

draft @ capital hill location - i was excited to see a strong ale on the menu, but this left me wanting a little bit more to it; reddish brown with no head; aromas and flavors were very sweet; malty, but very thin bodied; overall a little too sweet for me

Cloudy, red with medium head. Very malt forward with what seemed like a little peat. A bit sweet. Decent bitter finish, but very little hops in the taste. Balanced well though. Very thick.
