Draft at the Pike Street brewery. Pours deep brown with a light tan head. Some cloves with a little bit of wheaten sourness in the aroma. Big rich body with medium carb--borderline poundable, even, but rich and satisfying. Not syrupy at all, nor complex enough to be a true sipping beer, just incredibly burly as session beers go. Nice borderline between levels of substance, actually. Rich dark malt/wheat flavors with a little bit of light banana yeasty sweetness.

5 ounce sample on tap at Tangletown Publick House in Seattle. Banana and clove-like aroma with some turnt tobacco aromas as well. Not much in the way of hops detected in this, which is a pleasant surprise. Transparent amber/mahogany color with off-whitish head and nice lacing. Lots of banana sweetness with rich roasted burnt malts following. Fair amounts of cloves are also present with a light bitter hoppy finish. Some ethanol also makes a cameo. Tasty.

On tap at the brewery. It’s a dark amber with not much head. Typical fruity, malty wheat aromas. Taste has a pronounced malty/sweetness. A little thin, but quite plesant.

Oh Tangletown, this is a tasty tasty beer. Sweet frozen banana puree nose that follows through into the flavor. Nutty maltiness, with some great yeastiness, and just a hint of clove and fruit spiciness. Delicious

Delicious looking red amber with a creamy head. Sweet malt aroma with a slight wheat and yeastiness. Balance is okay, but could improve w. a bit more hopping.

Slightly hazy ruby brown. Appley, bubblegummy, yeasty nose. Kind of thin and tobaccoey but also with some peppery, footy yeast and faint dark fruit notes.

Deep dark brown beer with garnet/orange highlights. Very clear. Sticky white lace. Strong ripe banana notes, some toffee and dark chocolate underneath as well. A kiss of roast. Flavour is much boozier than and less fruity than the aroma would suggest. Some cherry and a bit of banana, but they seem overripe and a bit cloying. Light nuttiness behind that. Strong bitterness toward the finish. Didn’t really work for me.
