4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 25, 2010
Draft, SBW closing. Gold pour, thick white head. Bready, earthy, floral aroma with a bit of apple and lager yeast aroma. This is very creamy feeling, with a sweet, gingerbread character and the floral woodruff being pretty prominent. Pretty sweet, but the woodruff matched well with the rich malt profile of this. Herbal and a little earthy as it finishes. I enjoyed this more than the straight version of Elysian’s maibock.

Woodruff Maibock. 4 ounce Taste @ Seattle Beer Week Last Call Festival. 5.90% ABV. 25 IBU’s? Light lace white head. Clear thin bright amber color. Very floral Woodruff flower front continues to flavor smooth cloying mild sweet light caramel body. Clean mild hop end. Delicious! (4.25 / 5.0) Sampled 5/23/2010.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 riversideAK (5404) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 21, 2009
Shared out of the growler by Tex ad bottleworks. Thanks man! This one had an odd aroma, lots of earthy notes, a touch of cider, and lots of vegetal aspects as well. Some sugars and underlying sweetnotes too. Pours goldenish with a thin head. The flavor was sweet with lots of sugars and vegetal notes, lightly fruity. Just an odd beer that might have been a little too weirdly sweet for my palate.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 gracefullypunk (667) - Oregon, USA - MAY 10, 2009
Loved this one’s aroma--it smelled of mulled cider and Christmas, otherwise known as apples, cinnamon, ginger and a little bit of Merlot. The taste was similar, including a bit of brown sugar. Beer was a light caramel with an off-white thin head that left plenty of lacing.
3.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 carruthm (1399) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 10, 2009
On tap at Fields for Seattle Beer Week. Poured a clear palish orange color with a creamy and lacy head. Aroma is incredibly potent and struck me of cinnamon rolls. Ginger followed as well. Taste is of moderate christmas like spices to match with a clean palate. I sat there enjoying the nose on this for a good fifteen minutes or more. Never slackened or lost potency.
