firkin with 3oz French Strisselspalt hops, toasted oak chips, and grains of paradise,
frothy beige head, low carbonation, never could get much of an aroma, lots of flavor with good oak to complement the fruit and increased spice, a bit richer fruit character than the regular, the peppery spices come out as it warms to balance and hide the oak,

CaptainCougar (4625), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 11, 2007 Sampled on tap on 8/5/06: Pours a clear copper bronze with a nicely-lacing, small, frothy off-white head. Dry, earthy, dark caramel and toasted malty aroma has some authentic bready yeasty notes. Body starts with a nice fresh sweet caramel maltiness and good, true to style, mild, noble bittering hops toward a slightly warming finish. Very authentic and enjoyable. unclemattie (1557), Georgia, USA Oct 12, 2006 Updated: Oct 13, 2006I had this beer at EG at a Bastille Biere de Garde Firkin tasting. Hazy amber brown in color. Heavy hitting aroma of hops sits right on the surface. I did not pick up any of the grains of paradise. very smooth. slightly sweet. creamy texture. Lingering bitterness throughout the finish. This is my favorite Embers beer! Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Sep 11, 2006 KPs fest. Pours a med amber with a thin lasting white head. Aroma is on the malty side with light herbal hop hints, light medicinal smoke. Malty sweet, light caramel and toasted malts, herbal grassy bitter finihs. Body is a bit weak and watery plus the low carbonation hurts the body. SpringsLicker (1812), Tennessee, USA Sep 1, 2006 kp’s Fest of 26.
Thanks to Julie, the brew master for bringing a keg of this to kp’s.
Pours with a clear medium amber body under a head of white.
Smoky, candy aroma. Slightly sweet with a smooth, dry, finish. Light palate.
