2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle:   Amberish, thin white head, sudsy, sparce lacing.   Dirty biscuity nose, rotten apples, and minor alcohol.   Ugh, thats tough to drink... holy piss!   Slight band-aid, phenols up the ying yang, and a really old and musty/stale/rotten apple sorta background.   Taste like long johns soaked in watered down apple juice, mixed with gasoline.   Lots of alcoholic flavors, without even being that hot!   Odd, for 10% its not warming or biting, but just the fusels are killing me.   Not a clean tasting Barley Wine by any means... <shudder> Pouring the rest of this out.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
11.1oz. bottle. Sweet, malty aroma, plenty of caramel and brown sugar tinged with madeira and dried fruit, a faint tobacco note in the background here as well. Only a slight hiss when opening this. Deep, dark amber in color, plenty of sediment which was left behind in the bottle, and a head that quickly fades away to nothing. Flavor profile is richly sugary and malty, more caramel and brown sugar to be found throughout, a very faint peppery alcoholic tone appearing late. No carbonation to speak of, palate is lightly syrupy, thick and warming, body is undoubtedly full. A tad one-dimensional, but not without merit.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
English-style barley wine with English yeast and English hops. Thin, off-white head, cloudy bronze colour. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, port wine, cloves, cognac, spicy hops. Taste again dried fruits, spicy, smooth, sweetish caramel malts, citrus accent, finishing in warming brandy-like alcohol. This is my kind of beer, though I did have more complex barley wines.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour. A lot of bread and caramel flavor. Aroma is a fruit, and a little boozy. This beer is very mild for a 10%. I was very surprised. Finishes a little boozy, but it’s not intense by any means. A little malty finish as well. Not too bad.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Caramel brown, with a thin, white, lacy lasting head. Smells of caramel, malt, red fruit, port and alcohol. Medium frothy oily body. Tastes of port with sweet caramel malt, alcohol, raisin, and a bit of burn on the finish. Warms the tummy. It aged decently, but it still has too much booze. The edges have been shaved with age. Three year old bottle, courtesy of deanso.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours very cloudy and brown with no head. Aroma is minimal - maybe some faint malts. Taste is almost like a nut brown ale with a spicy finish. Really, it’s all kinda flat. Hmm.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
10.17oz bottle 8/22/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-48° in Snifter-Pours murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and dried fruits. Taste of the same with caramel and toffee coming thru on the back end. This full bodied brew is not bad but I guess I was expecting more.
