Bottle @ home. A very dark brown-black beer with tart red fruit and citrus flavours, roasted coffee notes followed by a creamy pine finish. Excellent!

Alengrin (2630) - BELGIUM - DEC 30, 2014
Black IPA with very thick, dense, creamy, pale beige head and very dark ruby red colour, almost black, clear. Appealing aroma of liquorice, grapefruit peel, candi sugar, bourbon, raisins, cloves, ginger, sweet tobacco, bayleaf and something unexpectedly parsley-like. Sweetish onset, raisins, hint of candi syrup, smooth and oily mouthfeel, caramelly malts, light roasted coffee-like bitterness towards the end, chocolatey accents, retronasal spiciness of cloves and liquorice, hop bitter finish, long and dry, lighter body than a stout as expected from the style, with some bourbon-like alcohol. Complex and very enjoyable.

(Bottle) Great looking beer - very dark, essentially black, but with ruby hints if held to the light and good dense off-white head. Lovely fresh aroma of pine and citrus. Medium body with smooth velvety carbonation. Taste is good - nice dark malt with chocolate notes up front, and some pleasant bitterness in the long finish. Overall, a very good beer.

Thuis geschonken. Een mooi zwart bier met creme-kleurige schuimkraag. Ruikt naar hop en grapefruit. Smaakt naar hop en ... Grapefruit. Een bloemig bittere nasmaak. Lekker!

Dark color with beige head. Dark malts, hops. Very malty in taste, chocolate, hops, but lacking a bit on the fruits. Dry and bitter, good MF. Overal, Ok black IPA, but knowing this brewery, had expected a bit more

Opaque and very dark brown beer, with a nice whitish head. Smell is lots of citric peels and resin. Taste is more resin and peels with a very subtle touch of chocolate/coffee bitterness. Very bitter all-round with a dry astringent finish.

Dark mahogany to cola colored beer with beige head. Aroma has citrus, tropical fruits, licorice, resin, roasted malts, slight alcohol and burned rubber. Flavor has roasted malts, resinous bitterness and rubber. Palate is full with medium carbonation and feel of bitterness. Finish has slowly building up bitterness with roasted malts, coffee acidicy, rubber and heat of alcohol. Otherwise decent but the rubber ruins this.

una buona black IPA. di colore nero, con intensa schiuma color nocciola, al palato i malti tostati esprimono sentori di cioccolato e liquirizia, con notevole aroma di caffč con amari ben luppolati e floreali
