3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2012 Botled. Pours deep, dark brown with a nice off-white head. Nose of mild coffee, citrus, roasted malts and smoked notes. Sweet flavor with roast, citrus fruits, coffee, chocolate and ashy notes. Medium bodied, slick feel and soft carbonation. Ends up with a decent bitterness. A well brewed Black IPA.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20

Black colour with a beige head. Sweet nose with some roasted malt. Coffee and sweet chocolate flavour. Missed some more hoppy flavor when it is called a BIPA.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Nice contrast of roast from malts and acidity from the hops. Coffee, turpentine, faintly metallic but not overwhelmingly so.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, Chester Beer and Wine. Deep dark brown pour with a fast fading tan head. Prominent roast in the nose and flavour. Rather smothered hop casts doubt on its claim to be a black IPA. Bit disappointing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Cola hued, thin sudsy tannish head, whisps of lacing.   Faint hop aroma, slight roast, smidgen of cookie dough and ashtray.   Piney start, not too strong or hot, faint "Black: on the backside, roasty, slightly astringent.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Slightly sweet exit, soft hoppiness, even softer roastiness.   Seems more of a slightly hoppy Blackbier than a Black IPA.   Otherwise, decent, clean, and not too bad.
