Bottle. Pours heavy black color with nice brown head. Aroma is lots of hops and some grapes and roasty (almost burnt). Taste is roasty malt, coffee, caramel, liquorice and doesn’t match aroma in bitterness. Nice beer, but I expected more.

Bottle from Voldby. Medium head with medium duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, bitter chocolate, coffee notes and a bitter finish that must come from hops, but could almost just as well be bitter chocolate. No flowery sensation from this beer. Disappointing.

berlinoise2go (615) - NORWAY - JUN 15, 2012
Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Very dark reddish brown colour. Half-inch beige head, good retention, a small amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, cream/milk, licorice, dark chocolate, cola/caramel, orange peel. Semisweet taste upfront, quickly overtaken by a powerful hop bitterness - nice overall balance. Dry finish. Smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a dark, almost black, brown with a khaki head. Good lacing. Sweetish and tart hop aroma with a weird off-note; sort of a blend between roasted, citrus, tart, milky and warm dumpster notes. Not really sure what to make of this. In any case it feels cloying. Tart, slightly smoked/roasted, apple flavour. Cooked vegetables and citrus as it warms. Bitter and tart finish with notes of fruit and citrus hops. Lingering apple notes. Slightly oily palate. Overall I think this had the potential to be good, but just comes off as a bit of a mess. 12.06.12.

From a 0.33 L bottle. A low dense and creamy tan head, over an opaque black body. Smells nice! Yellow fruits, oranges, mildly roasted dark malts, and a gentle licorice tone. Supersmooth in the mouth. Full-bodied. Nice fruity-bitter flavor. A good mix of mild chocolate-accented malts and a light resinous hop bitterness with som fine fruit tones added. Top notch BIPA.

Roasted coffee and big chocolate. Light sweet and medicinal, with big roasted and hoppy bitter. Good.

Flaske 0,25l. Sjokolade i avslutningen.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2012 Botled. Pours deep, dark brown with a nice off-white head. Nose of mild coffee, citrus, roasted malts and smoked notes. Sweet flavor with roast, citrus fruits, coffee, chocolate and ashy notes. Medium bodied, slick feel and soft carbonation. Ends up with a decent bitterness. A well brewed Black IPA.
