3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black beer with red hue and tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, lots of liquorice. Flavour rather sweet, slight salty tone, burned malts and hops bitterness. Malts seem to dominate, leaving little room for the hop aroma’s to develop. First black IPA I ever tasted. Not quite as complex as I imagined, still rather nice brew.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Biercafé ‘t Arendsnest, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with average to big light tan head.
Dark fruits, pleasant hoppy bitterness, liquorice and roasted malt in smooth aroma. Nose is like excellent example of Black IPA style. Flavour is a bit more Bock like with heavy maltiness. Liquorice, roasted malt, salt, bitter dark hops and dark fruits. Dry ashy aftertaste. Excellent.
