330ml bottle. Opaque black with small to medium stable and good lacing beige head. Fading, small scale hop aroma with decent dark malt and bitter chocolate background. Dark malt and bitter chocolate predominates the taste, also some roasty notes. Hop stays in background, but holds a possible sweet note at bay. Well balanced, with a tendency toward an "Imperial Dry Stout", if this exhibits an antipole concerning lesser hops compared to a Black IPA.

11.2 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, citrus hops, with caramel and medium sweetness. Flavour of medium bitter hops, with some pleasantly roasted malts and coffee, with medium sweetness. Well-rounded, by-the-books black IPA. Very enjoyable.

33cl bottle at Appelation Wines, thanks Ash. Pours dark brown coffee, with a small light brown head. The nose has notes of coffee and earthiness. The taste has the same again, but a very poor balance between the dryness of the coffee and the malt. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a clean finish. A bit of a dissapointment.

Black pour with tan head, aromas of liquorice, pine, yeast. Flavours are initially gooseberry hops, pine, some coffee, leading to woody vine fruits. Pleasing mouthfeel; enough body to carry it all without being too heavy.

33cl bottle from Emelisse biershop.

(bottle, 33cl) Stout-like appearance: dark brown hue with a beige and firm medium-sized foamy head. Moderately roasty malty aroma with hints of caramel, chocolate, liquorice, backed by fruity and slightly piney aroma hops. Hop- and roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roast-malty taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice and present fruity and spicy aroma hops; rich malty, roasty and hoppy finish. Balanced and pleasant. 25.XII.11
