bottle, dark black pour, little head. Solid roastiness, good dose of hops. Medium bodied. The main components, roast & bitterness, feed well off each other. Pretty solid BIPA

(bottle) Black and opaque, with a thin brown head. Aroma of heavily roasted dark malts, with a bit of liquorice, very dark chocolate and a hint of citrussy hops. Medium to heavily bitter and lightly sweet taste. Full-bodied, feels a bit sticky, carbonation is soft. Good, but less hoppy than I expect from an IPA - even a black one, especially regarding the aroma.

Wenig hopfiger RŲstantrunk, in dem sich SŁŖe und Malz in Teilen aufheben. Der Hopfen ist in keinem Teil wirklich stark vorhanden. Cremiger trinkbares Bier. /8/9/8//8

Very dark brown. Almost no head. Hoppy, and a bit of coffee roastiness gets trough the grassy ok bittering basis. Not bad, but I miss a boost of carbonation for sure. Also not totally outbalanced at the taste.

11.2 ounce bottle, label says best before end 06/2013, Lot A. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours very dark brown with a small tan head that didnít stick around for long. Thereís a small amount of lacing left behind on the glass. The brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and some light citrusy hops. It tastes like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, citrusy hops, coffee and some licorice. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit slick and has moderate carbonation. I think itís a good beer overall, even though I think itís more of a hoppy porter than a black IPA (not that Iím complaining). The hops arenít overpowering, but thereís still enough hops to make this interesting. Even though it was $4.99 a bottle, I think itís worth a try.

Sample at the Black IPA tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 11/4/11. Darkest brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, some caramel and citrusy and earthy hops. Malty flavor that starts with chocolate and roast with some licorice character before a bitter earthy hop finish. One of the more balanced black IPAs, but itís not wimping out on the hops. Very nice!

Near black with a small off-white head. Aroma of toffee, dark chocolate and coffee with citrus and fruity hops. Sweet fruity flavour with roasted malt and a touch of licorice

19/10/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 06/2013 (2011-567)

Clear dark brown beer, aery light beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: dried fruits, bit of disinfectant (alcohol?), bit dusty, some exotic fruits (pineapple), sugary, dried orange peel. MF: soft to no carbon, full body, creamy texture. Taste: some citrus in the beginning, mocha and coffee touches, pretty bitter hops. Aftertaste: coffee and citrus fruits, dry hoppy ending.
