3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml Bottle - Dark brown, almost black, with red tinges. Roasted malt, pine and liquorice in the aroma. Roasted taste with notes of pine, liquorice and chocolate. Nicely balanced compared to some other Black IPAs I’ve had, but not necessarily better for it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle @ Cardinal, Stavanger. Black in color, with a tan head. Aromas of some licorice, floral faint hops and malts. Flavors of malts, some hops. Calling it an IPA does not match my expectations for this beer. But it’s still a great ale.

Bottle shared with daje at Olympen
Pours black with a tanned head. Smells of coffee, roasted malts and some citrus. Not as fruity as some other black ipas i’ve tried lately. Taste has good sweetness, some fruityness and blackberries. Some chocolate notes too. Nice power hoppy bitterness in the finish. Absolutely a nice beer

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle. BBE 09/2013.
Pours a dark brown colour with a small white foamy head. Aroma of strong coffee, smoke and ash, roasted malts and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, salty licorice (but not as strong as on other Emelisse brews) and very bitter hops. Medium bodied, very smooth and maybe a bit thin mouthfeel. Bitter, roasty finish with some licorice. A very well balanced Black IPA.
