Botella de 330ml. Vaso de ˝ Pinta. Saboreada en dic´11. Negro intense. Retrogusto resinoso. 330ml bottle. ˝ Pint glass. Enjoyed on dec´11. Black color. Beige, small size bubbled, crown. Good retention & spotty sides. Hints of chocolate, pine, bitter hops & toasted malts to the nose. Flavors as expected from the aromas. Pleasant malty palate despite sharp bitterness. Full body, medium carbonation. Subtle coffee finish. Resiny aftertaste.

Deep dark cola coloured body, not fully black, at about 75% opaque with a very thin, oily tan head - not good looking, really. Aroma of roasted malt, earth, licorice, mushrooms and a bit of hops - not much though. Medium to Full-bodied; Meaty, full earthy flavour with a lot of Worcestershire sauce flavours, some soy sauce, some roasted malt and a touch of hop bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows some caramel and toffee, but the overwhelming earthy and meaty flavours just show too much. Overall, not such a great beer, especially for the style. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods (Bowery) in New York, New York on 25-November-2011 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 11-April-2012.

Bottle from EtreGourmet webshop, shared with tmrmwel and a bunch of people in VANŘ Bergen. Pours a deep brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is very faint, some malty tones only. Taste is roasty coffee notes, dark malts and hints of burnt rubber. Where are the hops? The aroma? The flavor? Black IPA? This is just kinda dull. Not bad, just dull.

Pours thin and black (duh) witha small off white head. Nose is not to bitter smelling. Chocolate, caramel, coffee, walnuts and a little grass. Taste is sweet. To sweet. Bitter comes through on the finish but it's to little to late. I think this may be an older bottle or a mishandled one because of come to expect a lot from this brewery. However it still tastes good, just not on par for the style. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, light bodies with a long aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: An ordinary not-so-hoppy roasted black IPA. Slightly below average
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed relatively fresh approximately 2 months after buying in an Amsterman store.
The look: Near black body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose has a medium hops presence (typical citrus and pine needles), notes of brownies cake and a tiny bit of smoke. Taste is medium roasted, roasted smoked almonds, some chocolate, yeast. Overall dirty sensation. Body is a bit light a foamy. Juicy fruity hops in finish with some green pine needles. Nothing bad about this beer but overall I thought this was a rather ordinary offering. I was disappointed by this beer, and I hate when I open a bottle of beer and exclaim “Ah shit! I should have opened something else!” and the person next to me is all "Please, show some respect to your dead aunt, you’re ruining the funeral.”

Bottle 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Very dark brown beer, nice beige and fine head, sticking to the glass. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice and sipy hops. Bittersweet mouth, rich and unctuous, powerfull notes of coffee, roasted malt, average bitterness, black fruits and dry fruits, licorice. Bitterness of resin and roast for an ample and long finale. Trend Porter-Stout.

Draft at naked city, listed at 11%. Almost black, yet brown with little head appearance. Watered down coffee and thick fudge backing...touch of hop infused grainy alcohol undertones. Mildly sticky and creamy lower carbonated body. Piney coffee flavor up front, sweet fudgey chocolate, inky, touch of alkaline...fades into a sweet patent malt hoppy finish with a boozey dish waterr backing. As a black ipa, whatever the fuck that is, above average. As a hoppy dark strong beer, it is a little thin and under attenuated.
