Draft. Pours near black with a thin beige head. Light whiskey in the aroma, with roasted malts, and some light sweetness. The flavor has roasted malts, whiskey, vanilla, wood, and light dark chocolate. Good stuff.

On tap at Brouwer’s Back in Black 2012. Pours black, with a beige head. High contrast -- the head is actually quite light given the opacity of the brew. There’s more black than tan in the nose -- roasty malts and chocolate provide a backbone, and a pine hop flavor rides above. The whiskey is apparent, but not dominant, which is a good thing. It’s tasty, if a bit hot.

PhillyCraft (641) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2012
On tap, a blend of Emelisses triple ipa and russian imperial aged in Jack Daniels barrels. Pours a mirror black, medium beige head, awesome thick sheets of lacing. Aroma/Taste of sugary JD whiskey, cherries, tons of apples and cider flavors. Some vanilla, and a good amount of hops present from the triple ipa. Sticky, and filled with apple brandy notes.

Strong ivy, coriander and rye with a warming sour mash initial hit off the tap brew calms down much after a few minutes. Brew comes on powerful with basement dank hop character at first. Stays busy and moderate thru out. A bit of a milky cream to it near the finish probably leads to the name.

esox (742) - Oulu, FINLAND - FEB 25, 2012
Draught @ In de Wildeman, Amsterdam. Black and oily pour, creamy beige head. Slightly salty and licoricy aroma with dark ripes. Whiskey pretty much stays on the back giving slightly alcoholic and spicy wood note to it. Sweetish malty and dark caramelly flavor with lots of sweet ripes and some soy sauce. Bitter finish with dark chocolate, dryfruits, fine woody dryness and whiskey notes. Full bodied, oily and velvety texture. Very good

PotjeBier (525) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 22, 2012
On tap @ In De Wildeman. Color as good as black, opaque. Beige head. Aroma’s: drop (licorice), laurel/bay leaves, hopbitter, some fruit, some sweetness retronasal. Flavor is medium sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Light ash in the finish and then bitter. Nice beer, but I fail to detect the JD, alas.

drank it at borefts 2011... jack daniels shines is apparant in aroma, but there also is an annoying rotten mandarin/passionfruit thing going on, i prefer the normal edition....

draft at Blue monk, Dark black pour, no head. This beer really opened up once it warmed a few degrees. Roasted malts in aroma, burnt wood, whiskey hiding in the background. Immediate boozy whiskey in the flavor, which was surprising since the whiskey aroma was rather meek. The barrell aging is very evident. The roast gets overwhelmed by the whiskey/wood. Pretty good stuff

Boliv (1045) - New York, USA - NOV 8, 2011
Draft. Pours dark black and brown with almost no head. Aromas of sweet chocolate and cocoa, vanilla, coffee, and caramel, with some mild alcohol and whiskey notes present as well. The flavor is bitter cocoa and sweet vanilla, mild charred oak, caramel, and mocha. The Jack Daniels is subtle, but imparts a nice smoky/boozy quality. Smooth, creamy, and low carbonation. Very good. Pour at the Borefts Bier Fest 2011. Dark color, thick pour. Gotta love the slight JD in the flavor.
