4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Tharlinn (30) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 1, 2013
Bottle, 33cl, Online. Aroma: Leather, smoke, whisky and some hops on the background. Appearance: Black as night. Brown head. Small dotty lacings linger. Taste: This stuff is godly. Dark as an IRS, floral as an IPA. Roasted malts, whisky, herbal, leather, hops. Everything a man or woman could want. Just missed a tad depth. Palate: Hoppyness everywhere. Smooth whisky notes carry the hops down. Pretty thick with some spicy carbonation. Heavy hitter I’d say.
I could drink this ambrosia for days.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Aroma of old buckskin, oak, tobacco, peat, hooch. Taste is initially for a glimpse fruity hoppy and minimally sweet dark malty, but instantaneous killed by the whisky notes: leather, oak, peat. Slightly too much whisky, though not so completely overdone as many other BA beers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dutchbeerpages (1138) - Wilnis, NETHERLANDS - APR 2, 2013
Yeah... little disappointing this one. I loved the white label Black and Tans, some of which are my favorites ever. This one is just too peaty and almost like your eating cold coffee grounds. There are some sweeter, nicer, whiskier tones in the aftertaste, but overall this is not my favorite Emelisse.
