Bottle from Burg Bieren (as Creme Brulee Stout, no innovation series), BB Dec 2015, large sample, served in an Oersoep tulip. Dark brown color, short frothy light brown head. Aroma of big vanilla, milk chocolate, slight roasted malts, some cookie and biscuit, slight fruity red wine note. Medium sweet taste, lots of grainy cookie, vanilla. Quite nice.

Bottled @ Degust together with a brownie desert. Full 33cl sample. The aroma has indeed the creme brulee tones; caramel, chocolate, light roast. Very sweetish. Black coloured beer with a beige, lasting head. The taste is sweet, slightly bitter. Full bodied with milk chocolate, butterschotch/caramel. Really nice!

Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, marshmallow, butterscotch, creme brûlée, vanilla. Flavour is all of those things, quite sweet (too sweet for my taste). I kind of dig the aroma, but the sweetness is a bit too cloying.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 12/2015. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge vanilla, cream, frosting, milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, light roast, and toast. Incredible aromas with fantastic balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and creamy/sugary lactose sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, frosting, roasted malt, light toffee, and toast. A fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, frosting, roast, and toast on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of of dark/roasted malt and sugary lactose sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, fairly creamy, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome imperial milk stout. All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and sugary lactose sweetness; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Aroma is caramelized sugar, marshmallow, caramel, light coffee, just all around deliciousness. Taste is a little burnt, lightly over cooked sugar cookies.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 12/2015
Aroma is very sweet with caramel, toffee and chocolate – like a chocolate bar filled with caramel. Flavour has some roasted notes, lots of caramel, chocolate and toffee. Salty licorice in the background. Finishes with distant lingering hops and hints of ash. Sweet and rather unusual, but I seem to enjoy this very much.

Bouteille.

Bottled. Pours Black to Deep brown with a small, lacing tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolateand and licorice notes. Sweet flavor that ends up slightly more dry with bitter notes. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carb. An very nice Impy.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel, some light roasted malts, a light lactose sweetness maybe?, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not really enjoyable because it’s too sweet.

Geroosterd, hoestsnoepje, bubblegum, caramel, are soms tastes to find in thuis innovation series Emelisse. Lakes (bitter) hops which makes the burned and zweet after taste a bit top much fort my liking. Pours nice and black and smells a lot like caramel sweets. I really like what they try to achieve, but I find it a bit off balance to make it a very good beer.
