2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Matts_Property (831) - Vancouver, British Columbia, - JUL 19, 2011Sample from a bottle at PIB. Pours clear orange with a thin cream lacing. Aroma of heaps of caramel, no sign of hops. Flavour of dark roasted caramel malts, some light bitterness. Not good. Doesn’t display enough IIPA characteristics to bother with again.

Pours reddish amber colored with small head. Smells hoppy-fruity, oily and slight alcoholic. Starts with flat carbonation. Aroma is fruity-hoppy, with lots of resin and pine woods. Middle part is creamy and fruity with lots of pine woods and some caramel. Goes into a bitter-dry hoppy finish with some fruits and lots of pine wood!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thepeter (274) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2012
Agressively poured this bottle of beer and still only a slight dense smooth head which only lasted a bit but left a film for most of the rest of the beer. A dark amber in color
smells like you’d expect, piney hops and cittrus with a bit of spice which I assume was from the yeast.
Tastes a lot like it smells but a bit subdued. Heavier on the pine and lighter on the citrus than I expected. Still a bit of additional spice as well.
Very smooth but seemed to lack Carbonation. Not flat just flatter than usual. i did not mind this so much as I love naturally carbonated cask ale, and that was what the mouthfeel was liike.
I could easily drink a couple of these but generally I always find IPAs to be less drinkable as they overpower my taste buds a bit.

17th April 2010 Cloudy dark amber beer. Nice frothy white head. Softish dry palate. Creamy malt quickly overwhelmed by bitterish marmalade orange. Finishes with some aniseed alcohol and some minerals. Probably should of had this fresher (it’s at least 8 months old) but still decent.

Aroma is sweet and somewhat hoppy with exotic fruits and some resin. Flavour is sweet with fruity hops, some resin, glue, caramel and hints of biscuits. Emelisse should stick to stouts and porters.

330ml bottle pours a golden amber color with a 2 finger off-white head that gradually subdued leaving a thin spotty lacing behind. Aromas are plenty of caramel and a mild citrusy hop aroma. Taste is lots of caramel malty sweetness with a mild grapefruity hop bitterness with some earthy notes. Although this is not as bold as some of the American DIPA’s, the flavours are well balanced and this is a solid brew.

From notes. On tap.
Pours a honey gold-amber. No head to speak of, maybe the bartenders falt.
Aroma: Malt, a bit of honey, no hops at all.
I do get a little hoppy bitterness, some malty sweetness, but the mouthfeel is killing me. Supper watery.Little carbonation. However, this beer is dangerous, extremely drinkable for a 9% brew.
Overall this is not what I’d expect from a double IPA.
