3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Slipstream (1776) - USA - AUG 15, 2010
Surprisingly yeasty for the style. Nice foamy dark auburn pour. This had a bigger head than the other Emelisse brews I tried - maybe someday I’ll know why. There are flowers and sweet malt in the aroma. It is very malty and sweet for an Imperial IPA, with some astringent hops kicking in, along with a bit of grapefruit and brown sugar. A good brew, but not a superior version of the style.

Bottle that I picked up at Bierkoning (think?) Amsterdam, October 2009, consumed 13-11-09 Pours hazy amber with a clingy filmy head, it was large and foamy but this soon disappeared. Sharp hop juice in mouth, god bitter bite, great pithy grapefruit, sharp but tempered with a sweeter finish, lovely stuff. A7 A3 F7 P4 Ov15 3.5
