3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 reebtogi (2191) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 29, 2012
330ml bottle pours a golden amber color with a 2 finger off-white head that gradually subdued leaving a thin spotty lacing behind. Aromas are plenty of caramel and a mild citrusy hop aroma. Taste is lots of caramel malty sweetness with a mild grapefruity hop bitterness with some earthy notes. Although this is not as bold as some of the American DIPA’s, the flavours are well balanced and this is a solid brew.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BigSound (149) - New York, USA - MAR 20, 2012
From notes. On tap.
Pours a honey gold-amber. No head to speak of, maybe the bartenders falt.
Aroma: Malt, a bit of honey, no hops at all.
I do get a little hoppy bitterness, some malty sweetness, but the mouthfeel is killing me. Supper watery.Little carbonation. However, this beer is dangerous, extremely drinkable for a 9% brew.
Overall this is not what I’d expect from a double IPA.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy copper-orange beer with a little but long lasting foam; hoppy aroma with notes of tea and red fruits marmalade; slightly thick and full-bodied, low carbonation, some sweetness and a late fair bitterness; some residual sweetness in a long hoppy finish where notes of red fruits and flowers appear; slightly soapy

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Butters (3014) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Sampled on New Years Eve 2012. Label claims 11 percent. Clear amber pour with fishegg clearish head. Very old musty hop aroma and lots of caramel malt. Flavor has the pale and caramel malts with old citrusy hops. Feels old and flat on the palate, but not that exciting. Does hide the abv very well, but pretty blah otherwise.

Nice, hoppy, and smooth double IPA. Good malt balance and tangy sourness from the hops.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rand (820) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 10, 2011

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 gyllenbock (1920) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 16, 2011
Bottle.
Amber with a white head. Is this really a DIPA? A simple question, where were the hops? Sweet with a lot of caramel and malt. Drinkable but its not a DIPA according to me.
