(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20110724) The beer poured amber and cloudy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had fresh malts, glue and hops. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, malts, fresh malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, hoppy and bitter. Too much glue-like components to be enjoyable.

Cloudy tan body, thick, soapy head. Slightly soapy hop nose, rather subdued hop presence, though some perfumey esters escape. Very reserved for a double IPA. Grassy and "green" tasting. Overall, just ok. A European centric-IPA that tastes of dried noble hop. Again, a very "green" quality to the flavor.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Deep hazy amber, nice lacing head. Citrussy hoppiness, biscuit, grapefruit. Quite dry, but still well-balanced. Prima.

Murky copper body with, surprisingly, small head. Great lacing. Resin, pine, berries, dough and wheat. Smooth body, but also sugary like it is thickened. Small alcoholic touch too. Perfect carbonation and a fatty full mouthfeel. Taste starts a bit too sweet but is nicely balanced up to the finish where it gets a bit dryer. Not as refreshing as expected. (33cl bottle)

3/07/2011 33cl bottle @ Emelisse lunch with Han Hidalgo (2011-306)

A bit cloudy amber coloured beer, light beige creamy head, stable and adhesive. Aroma: lots of caramel, sweet malts, bit of mocha. MF: light carbon, full body. Taste: sweet malts, caramel, bit of fruits, bqq/charcoal, then bitter hops. Aftertaste: sweet malts, yeast and dry bitter ending.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Sour alcohol and bread aromas. Thin with bitter and sour hay and caramel upfront turning to bittersweet resin in the finish.

11.16 oz. bottle, pours dark amber with almost no head. Aroma is kind of medicinal, with cough syrup, cloying caramel and not much hop trace. Not a very flavourful double IPA really - grapefruit is noticeable and toasted malt, with bitter citrus hops following and lingering. Doesn’t seem very inspiring or like it does anything - decent, I suppose.

Rather smallish yellow-cream head over fully hazy orange-yellow beer. Dry C-hops, incense, and sweet cakebottom or sweet pie aroma. Very bitter taste, hop, citrus (especially grapefruitpeel), horse chestnut. Some burnt notes, and a bit unidimensional. Lipsmacking bitterness, resiny in the aftertaste, near tart. Maybe a tad more watery than the "other" one, but quite similar in the end.

Cask @ In De Wildeman. Special version dry hopped with Southern Cross hops from New Zealand. Amber color, hazy. Off white, soapy head, good lacing. Aromas of fresh hops, citrus/resin, some malty sweetness. Flavor is malty sweetish with a nice hopbitter backbone. Soft carbonation, as you would expect from a cask ale. Long lasting bitter finish. Very good.
