Hazy dark brown with lots of particles Caramalt aroma like that of a dark lager. Flavor is soft, bready and caramel malt.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. Pours a murky copper body with a creamy beige head. Moderate nose - toasted bread, treacle & caramel, biscuit, date pudding, sultana & nutmeg -like phenolic spice. Full bodied, rich & creamy without too much weight, moderate soft carbonation. Sweet biscuity, chewy toffee malts, toasted dark grain bread woody spice & pepper, dried fig & date & sultana, slight nutty/cocoa note. Relatively lifted bitterness, drawn out finish with some warmth. Pretty good, has a slight unrefined/homebrewed feel to it - nothing wrong with that though!

Cloudy dark chocolate brown with small beige head. Strong candi sugar aroma, with dates, plums and figs. The taste is like sweet muddy water, with the dates, plums and figs. Light bitter finish. Light bodied and light carbonation. I love many of Emelisse’s beers but this one is a bit disappointing.

Coloração marrom, espuma bege, espessa, de média duração. Aroma licoroso, uvas passas, chocolate, tons metalizados conforme aumentou a temperatura. Paladar doce médio, trouxe notas de café ao olfato, cabonação flat, amargor bem discreto. Aftertaste evidenciou o gosto de café e chocolate, bem balanceado e de média duração. Uma cerveja muito agradável.

A dark brown beer with a small head. Tastes like malt, hops, sugar candy and a little caramel. Aftertaste is slightly sweet flavor. Easy to drink.

Bottle in train :) Aroma has strong caramel, toffee, nutty notes. Taste has high sweetness, desert like palate, muffins, toffee, caramel, awesome. Low on the bitterness. Body is heavy, medium carbonation. A lot of candi.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 1 March 2015) Brownish amber colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with roasted malt, dark bread, raisins and prunes. Malty, spicy taste with notes of dried fruit, roasted malt, crisp-bread and a balanced spicy bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced dubbel. Nice one.

Not my favorite Emelisse still good. Murky brown with very small beige head and pleasant mild carbonation. Flavor starts a bit sweet with candy sugar and figs and finishes more bitter with notes of overripe fruit. The alcohol does come through in the flavor. A good warming double but not very special.

bottle bought from our local supermarket, clear brown cola colour with a tanned head, caramel malts, plums, chocolate, yeast, bitter aftertaste, banana, oily texture, hope our supermarket start selling their saison now...

Draft at Emelisse. Pours murky, muddy, ugly brown with a big light-beige head. Aroma is sour, oud bruin, some dark fruit, yeast. Dominant candy sugar force, can't this do with less freaking sugar?, dry, light bitterness.

(Keg at Viisi Penniä, 20150220) The beer poured muddy brown and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had candi sugar, butter and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were kandi sugar, malts, grass, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. The strong diacetyl makes me wonder whether this beer is in its proper condition. Nice taste but somewhat off-putting aroma.
