SaintMatty (1197), Tallinn, Estonia Jul 8, 2009 300ml Bottle - Hazy brown in colour. Slightly sharp and tart aroma with malt and dried fruits including raisins. Fairly fruity taste with raisins and some spicy malt followed by a malty, tangy and slightly sweet finish. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Mar 24, 2009 Bottled (CK, BB 06/2009).
Hazy dark amber-brown, murky color, very small off-white head. Tart, vinegarish nose with toffee, glue, red currant and strawberry. Flavor is not so tart. It is more like hoppy ... hoppy same time with red currant, caramel, yeast, some typical Dutch candy sugar flavor. Finish and aftertaste is kind of hoppy and a bit alcoholic. Weird beer, I am not sure if brewer really wanted this kind of doppelbock. oh6gdx (8801), Vasa, Finland Mar 15, 2009 Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Hazy ambery nutbrown colour, small beige head. Aroma is malty, caramelly and also has some slight tart/sour notes (almost infectionlike). Flavour is fruity hops, yeasty, some caramelly and toffeeish hints. Hides the alcohol very well. pivnizub (4951), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Mar 14, 2009 Bottle:Reddish-amber coloured, small white foamy layer, cloudy, floaties visible; sweet dark-malty and caramelly nose with a distinctive fruity-vinous touch; sweet and slightly tart flavout, quite light bodied; sweet-fruity and dark-malty finish. Not very complex, sweet and boring........ MoritzF (4859), Bochum, Germany Mar 3, 2009 (30cl bottle, vintage 2008) Cloudy, murky orange to amber colour with a short beige foamy layer. Sweet and slightly toasted malty nose with licorice, traces of caramel and a distinctive fruity note of strawberry. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toast-malty and slightly fruity taste, mixed up with burnt caramel, which does not really work for me here. Sweet and toasty, subtle fruity finish (03.III.09). altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 28, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Nice light brown body, slight head. Syrupy sweet nose. Carbonated. Taste of red berries, caramel, alcohol. Metallic finish. Okay. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Jan 3, 2009 Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with some light fruit. Taste is a bit metallic with malts and fruit. Finish is dry with metal. FatPhil (3446), Espoo, Finland Dec 17, 2008 330ml bottle - - Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam
Clear deep red, small head. Sharp fruity aroma, slightly sour, and pretty malty. Woody, slightly drying palate. A touch yeasty, even though poured clear. Quite hoppy too. Unexceptional, but certainly not a bad brew.
