Bottle from Biernavigatie. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Sweet nose of caramel, brown sugar and prunes. Sweet and malty, light bitter finish. Good beer in this style.

0.33 l bottle as ’Imperial Doppelbock 2015’ from Mitra Den Bosch, at 11.0% abv and 45 EBU, best before end of 2018. Clear, dark red with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, tan head. Sweet-malty aroma of molasses, brown sugar, some raisins and prunes with notes of alcohol. Sweet, fruity-malty taste of raisins, prunes, molasses and caramel, followed by a medium long, average bitter finish with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty stuff, apart from some notes in the aroma no alcohol detectable. However, although it is supposed to be a doppelbock, it may lack some complexity.

Dark, muddy pour. Spices, caramel and a lot of yeast. Special taste, wouldnt say this is a typical bock, but it is something different

Roasted malt, caramel, dried fruits.

Amber/red beer with a average light brown head.

Starts very sweet and gets more fruity and roasted, ends so so fruity.

08-10-2015. 33cl bottle at home. Appearance is brown, misty, small lasting head. Aroma is figs, fruit, raisins. Taste is sweet, slight liquorice. Mouthfeel is alcohol, bittersweet finish. Overall not as good as I expected, especially given the 11% ABV.

Drank with Marijn at my place 07-10-2015. A fine beer. First bock beer of the season! Liked it. The beer really grabs you; has a lot of taste and is rich. Very good. One of the best bockbeers.

Fles @Gollem 2. Troebel bruin bier. Wat moutig, verder veel caramel, en chocola. Een echt Emelisse bier, zwaar en zeer smaakvol. Weinig bokbier.

Murky brown with nice soapy tan head. Enticing caramel aromas, molasses, banana bread, booze. The taste has lots of caramel sweetness, overripe banana, earthy and herbal bitterness, warming alcohol. Clean lager yeast presence is noticeable. Fairly full bodied. Very enjoyable doppelbock.

Shared bottle, poured a murky Amber colour with a non lasting tanned head. Lots of yeast. Notes of sweet caramel malts, raisins, spices, slight herbal notes, sticky caramel, slight of metallic taste. Not the best emelisse

From a 330ml bottle on 19/6/2015 (ABV listed as 11%). Pours a slightly cloudy amber with no ead. Has a strong malty nose, with lots of caramel, chocolate and toffee. In the mouth, it’s a really sweet malty monster. Toffee, butterscotch and caramel dominate, but there are also hints of chocolate and prunes. There’s a spicy, slightly sour bitterness providing some punch at the back. Fairly light bodied for such a big beer, with soft carbonation. Not bad, but a bit too sweet and sharp for mine.
