33cl bottle, served in Trappist glass. Pours dark red (close to brown) with small beige creamy head. Caramel, red grape, and ripe fruits on the nose. The flavour is so malty as expected, really sweet, more or less like if there’s some dark sugar added. Less winy notes than in the aroma, which is ok. Little alcohol considering it’s 11%. Medium body, good carbonation. Pleasant.

Found back tasting notes from Borets Festival 2012. Only putting them in now. APPEARANCE: red brown beer, nice brown head. NOSE: very sweet, caramel, alcohol somewhat noticeable. TASTE: rather disappointed in the taste, especially for the alcohol content... some wood, some fruits, malts, rather sweet.

Bottle. Hazy brown beer with a tanned head. Fruity, sweet licorice, malty, coffee aroma. Sweet, hoppy, malty, dark chocolate flavour with some licorice notes.

Bottle at Borefts 2012 - Bodegraven. Pours clear brown with a fine, off-white cream head. Sugary malt nose, plenty of toffee, ham, plums and brown sugar. Big sweet flavor with moderate alcohol, big plums, dates, brown sugar. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with big toasty sugars, lots of ripe fruits, rich bread. Pretty damn good doppelbock.

330 ml bottle, poured into a snifter. ABV 11%. Dark brown colour on the body, with just one thion line of beige head, consisting mostly of big bubbles. I was looking forward to a creamy thick head as some of the other reviewers mentioned, but, oh well. Of course such a thin head left no lacing on my glass. Very nice aroma of roasted malts, lots of chocolate, a bit of vanilla and some hints of the high alcohol, that give this beer sort of a brandy smell, although overpowered by the chocolate notes. Really fantastic taste. Much more roasted malts and coffee now, offering some nice bitterness, with the chocolate more present on the aftertaste and after the coffee flavour has retreated a bit. The high alcohol intensifies those nice flavours, while at the same time offers a much pleasant warmth. Another good thing about living in the Netherlands, as far as beer is concerned and except the fact that is really close to both Belgium and Germany, is that you can save your strong bocks and winter warmers, since is going to be really cold in the summer too. Did you forget to drink your Christmas warmer? You can drink it on July, when the temperature will drop fifteen degrees after three days of sunshine. But back to the beer. Medium thin on the body, quite perfect, neither too thick nor too thin. Good amounts of carbonation and mildly dry on the palate. Overall a really great beer.

Bottle, bought @ Voldby Købmandsgaard.
Pours clear deep red with a lovely, staying, creamy, off-white head. Great duration. Aroma has mild smoke, vinious, caramel, toasted, a hint of chocolate and plums. Medium to low carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour has toasted malts, a hint of chocolate, quite warming and vinious. Certainly follows the sweetness tradition of the doppelbock.

Fuck, this is sweet. Sugary caramel in the aroma. Sticky and heavy like an ale-esque version of a brainfuck polish lager. Quite a heady range of esters and a touch yeasty. Very silly. Strangely OK despite being so alcoholic. Oddly it’s not so hot, but clearly it’s boozy. So fucking sweet.

Pours a dark brown color, cloudy liquid with a minimal tan head. It smelled like coffee, sweet, honey and peachy. The taste was not that special. Light bitterness and a short duration. Full body, watery and sticky texture a soft carbo and a alcoholic bitter finish

Bottle (330 ml). From Slovaksniper. Murky brown with almost no head and no lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, toffee, fruits and chocolate. Taste is sweet and about the same as the aroma. Heavy body. Low carbonation. Too heavy. Not very complex.
