Bottle. Pours a bronze amber color with a creamy-looking tanned head. Vinous and malty aroma with dates, raisins and caramel. Rich light fruity taste, vinous and fairly malty sweet. Full bodied. Softly carbonated.

Bottle, pours dark ruby with an off white head. Malty, chocolate, toffee, juniper berries, pepper, prunes, roast, light peat, liquorice, salt, wood. Big malty base with plenty of interesting notes. Medium sweet, bitter offsets this quite well, full body, slick texture, soft to average carbonation, lingering chocolate bitter and somewhat boozy finish. Very nice

Pours brown with a quickly fading head. Nose shwos hefty malt, with bready, toasty and almost chocolate-like characters. Loads of melanoidin notes. Big sweet malty flavours too. Heaps of bready malt, a little booze, some soft spicy hops.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ MItra Tiel. Hazy red brown with a tiny off-white head. Malty aroma with lots of caramel. Taste is less sweet than expected, nice bitterness and some peppery notes. Mouthfeel is round, full and surprisingly smooth for its 11% ABV. very nice extreme doppelbock

Bottled. Hazy reddish amber colour with a small beige head that leaves some lace. Aroma is sweet malts, mild alcohol, caramel, toffee and some mild dry fruits as well as ripe fruitiness to it. Also some nuttiness. Flavour is very similar, with also some mild grainy notes. Good sipper, and actually not too sweet, even though itís got quite a high abv.

33cl bb11/2014. Gist of it: Delicately engineered, ultimately overamped, yet lean German-style Doppelbock with an uneasy conscience of the power and potential of top-fermenting dark ales down South. Nose: dark portwine fruits, stewed maroni, bessenjenever. Taste: more bessenjenever on purified caramel malts amped to eleven, prune jam. Distinct hop fruity bitterness, lingering stone fruit peel and tree bark malt astringency in the finish. Surprisingly lean, medium mouthfeel, Alcohol burn, invisible yeast profile (100% bottom fermented?). Well executed triple winter warmer, straight to the toes after a long walk. The Spinal Tap rendition of their impressively demure Herstbok.

Dark brown with a hazy texture if you look really closely. Tan head. A bit of chocolate and a bit more coffee and smoke.

Bottle 33cl. Dark red brown colour with a beige head that fades quickly. Aroma has yeast, coffee and chocolate. The taste is lovely. The beer feels thick and welcomes you with a soft, sweetness. Chocolate and coffee at first and then the typical emelisse bitterness kicks in. Later thereís warmness from the alcohol. Very good stuff, bring on the winter!

In short: A monstrously sweet orgy of caramel-coated candied dark fruits in a sumptuous body. Not for me.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed with some age on it, probably over one year of age.
The look: Cloudy dark burgundy body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose is rich as expected, candied fruits and caramel and allÖ itís a big doppelbock, no doubt. Body fuller-than-full but with plenty of soft bubbles that create a surprisingly pleasant sumptuous mouthfeel. Taste is an orgy of caramelized dried dark fruits, no use naming the dark fruit flavors I picked up here, with every sip I picked up a few different ones. Also noted maple syrup or maybe it was some kind of not-so-bitter resinous wooden hops finish that tasted like tree sap. Alcohol is apparent but not bothersome. This truly is a digestive beer. Too sweet for me, that was to be expected from a 11% Doppelbock. Not sure why I bought this, a style I donít really like from a brewery I donít really like, a winning combination that has as much chances at paying off as playing 6-39-26-B-Chicken-& at the loto.
