Overwhelming. On it’s own a fantastic stout but the aging in Bowmore barrels makes this an extra treat. Real creamy, coffee and chocolate like taste, with that sharp edge of the whisky. Fantastic!

courtesy of fiulijn - black beer with no head left; pretty toasted with fair Speyside-like whisky notes, black chocolate; full-bodied, quite thick and very tasty; very bitter, notes of ashes, whisky and caramel with a fair hop presence

Jet black colour, tan head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, caramel, coffee and whisky. Flavour sweet whisky, peat, smoke and bitter roasted malts. Touch of liquorice (drop). Lingering bitter finish, some ash. This newest batch is again a great brew!
(From unlabeled 33cL bottle during RBESG 2013 visit, @ Brouwerij Emelisse. Thanks for the wonderful time and making us feel welcome, guys!)

Bottle from Speciaal Bier Winkel, Bodegraven, bb 12/2015
parallel with the Bunnahabhain version

Black color, with medium sized difficult brownish creamy head. The aroma is mild, light roasted malts and chocolate, very light alcohol. Full bodied; the mouthfeel is very smooth; very good chocolate flavor, some dark caramel, light coffee, pleasant liquorice component, moderate sweetness, light dusty feeling, with correct bitterness, and alcohol warmth.
Excellent.

Bottle @ brewery, RBESG. Black colour, tan head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee and whisky, not too overpowering. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, bit of chocolate, wood, some whisky. Very pleasant.

An unlabelled bottle from the brewery during the RBESG 2013 weekend. Poured a deep mahogany with an oily texture and a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich earthy peat. The flavour is rich oily creamy bitter and alcoholic with loads of roasted malt, liqourice and chocolate. The oak and whisky sit subtly there on the back of the palate and linger forever in the finish. A master beer!

THX! to Martinus! 33 cl. unlabelled bottle @ Kulminator (gave some to Dirk). Tried during RBESG 2013. Black some mocha head only on the sides. Nose is sweet whiskey, smooth chocolate, coffee, liquorish, only light liquorish,… Taste is sweet whiskey, chocolate, incredibly smooth, sweet roast, touch liquorish (quite nice), sweet mocha, light booze, thick sugar, only light accompanying peat notes,… Lovely as all the other white label brews. Emelisse remains one of the kings – maybe even the king of this king of RIS whiskey BA goodies. This is no exception. Bowmore seems so far like by far the weakest & most disappointing Islay whiskey but this is still ace. Wonderful work.
