UPDATED: JUN 13, 2012 On tap at the Farmer’s Cabinet, White Label. Dark brown with no head when it arrived. Nose is chocolate, coffee, molasses and bourbon. Medium body with soft carb. Taste is chocolate, whiskey, prune and hay. Dry finish with coffee. Richness is taken over by the barrel.

Bottle. [thanks noize/skortila/caesar]
Completely black with a small, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has vanilla, roasted malts, blackberries. Medium fresh carbonation, fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has hard roasted malts, soft oaky touch, chocolate, lots of oak. Long, lingering, oaky bitterness with firm vanilla. Lovely and very elegant.

33cl bottle, with the dark purple label and a white sticker added to state the barrel treatment, pours very dark mahogany with tan like head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate brownie, highly roasted maltiness and mixing with smooth sweet bourbon and a bit of oak. The taste is pretty darn rich and smooth with dark roasted malts, some burnt malts and chocolate brownie. To midway fairly smooth Jack Daniels rolls up to the surface. Wow, I’m liking this a lot as the barrel treatment has really added to the experience and smoothed out what I remember about the base beer.

3/31/12. Bottle shared at colemanzuber’s Stoutfest 2012! Black pour with a nice tan head that sticks. Big roast aroma, a bit smokey, with touches of sweetness of whiskey. Sweet flavors of rich chocolate and roasted coffee with slightly tannic oakiness and sourness and a definite alcoholic whiskey aspect. Interesting. The ashy roastiness lingers for ages.

33cl bottle bought at DeMolen biershop. Another proof that Emelisse knows how to brew solid stouts. This beer rocks !!!

A pretty good barrel-aged stout. I got it served to me on tap too cold but as it warmed it got delicious.

Borefts Beer Festival 3. Opaque black beer, residual tan head. Dry palate with fine carbonation. Nice dark malts, not bitter or roasty. Slightly spicy whisky with a little wood but no oaky sweetness here. Woody dry finish with mild minerals. Different!

On tap at local option... Pours a darker shade of cola black, lighter towards the edges while topped with a quickly receding light beige soapy... head... Aroma of soft bourbon undertones, not heavily pronounced in any way while complimented with a light roast and chocolate notes while a light fruitiness also pervaded... Flavors of soft roas and cocoa initially then moves directly into the barrel with charred woody bitterness that lingers on the palate for abit. Lighter bodied with semi-lively carbonation. The imparted bitterness is a touch distracting to say the least.
