Bottle courtesy of ClubGonzo, shared with VANØ Bergen. Pours a hazy dark, with a lightly coloured small head. Aroma is a very sweet coffee, and some notes of alcohol. Flavour is caramel and syrup, together with notes of roasted nuts and bitter coffee. Sweet finish.

33cl bottle. Pours black, with a tiny offwhite head. Smells of chocolate, whiskey, sea salt, coffee, and malt. Tastes of a medium-heavy sweetness, a medium bitter, and some pleasant peat. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy texture. A lovely stout.

33cl bottle from Emelisse biershop. BB 12/2013.

(330ml bottle) Pours an opaque black body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, pine, grass, peaty scotch (destinctively Laphroiag), and ash. Flavor of roasted malt, pine, grass, peat, wood, and chocolate with a dry, bitter finish.

Bottle from EtreGourmet webshop, shared with tmrmwel and a bunch of people in VANØ Bergen. Pitch black body, small beige head. Nose is whisky, wood, coffee and booze. Taste is hard roasted coffee, booze, burnt wood and hints of spices and dark chocolate. Smooth carbonation, slick and near-oily mouthfeel. OK, but not amazing.

0.33l bottle from etregourmet web shop. The pour on this one is as good as black. Deep dark brown on the border of black, and it has a quickly sidesticking chocolate-head. Not to extreme on the aroma at first, but when it got some temperature it got really nice. A good woody tone absolutely, a bit sweet and tones of both dark Belgian chocolate, coffee and smoke! Lots of it. It also has strong and rich smoky - almost peaty tones in the flavor this one. Lots of acidic dark roasted malts, quite warming. I somewhat feels that it’s lacking a bit body, while the carbonation level is located on the soft side of the scale. A nice one where the smoky, peaty touches are really well represented. 16.03.2012

33cl bottle pours deep darkness supporting a tan looking head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate brownie, black earthy tea, rubbery band aid and malt balls. The taste has dark roasted malts, some chocolate like notes and burnt malts and then quickly a yummy earthy black tea note that goes wonderfully with the whole experience. This is rich and smooth and really good.

Bottled 33cl. It pours a very dark beer with a small deep beige head. The aroma is mainly of roasted malts, vanilla, leather, soy sauce, band-aid, plums, alcohol and citrusy hops. Rather sweet and smooth. Full bodied. Low carbonation. A little salty component which adds to my appreciation of this beer. Warming and leathery on the swallow. Slightly salty finish with a nice lingering minty touch.
