Boreft Beer Festival 2011: Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of peat smoke and medicine, with some licorice. Sweet and cloying malty flavour with overwhelming peat smoke.

330ml bottle from Cracked Kettle

Pours pitch black with a tiny and sticky light brown head. Aroma has notes of smoky whisky, roasted malts, vanilla and wood. Taste is quite dry and has notes of peat, wood, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, whisky and roasted malts. Finish is slightly sweet and strong with wooden and coffee notes. Quite nice imperial stout, but not as good as the peated Jack Daniels BA version.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2011. Pours a pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is malt, roasted, sweetness, peat, smoke and wood. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness and alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a small and rough beige head. Iodine, ashes and hard roasted malts in the nose. Quite full-bodied, sweet hard roast malts, earthy and again iodine with a distinctly ashy and malt bitter finish. But a peaty beer that I for once find drinkable. 301011

12/12/11/12//12

Bottled 330ml (BB 03/2013)
Thanks bierkoning! Deep opaque brown color, firm small creamy beige head. Strong aroma of peat, smoke, roasted malts and alcohol - very evident Laphroaig/Islay-nose. Medium-bodied. Loads of licorice in the flavor. Then peat and Islay whisky. Some oaky notes. Hiding alcohol well. This is delicious especially if you like Laphroaig.
