Cask@GBBF2011. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is peat, alcohol, some roasted malts, liquorice, riped fruits and also rather strong barrel notes. Flavour is peated, slightly roasted malts and smoked wooden notes as well. Ends really ashy.

Black coloured with a medium sized beige head.
Roasted aroma of caramel, dark chocolate and peat with notes of whisky.
Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel, peat, whisky and dark chocolate with notes of alcohol.
Roasted and warming alcoholic finish.

From cask at GBBF. POurs dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked, dark malty and hard roasted. Dark malty, roasted and solid alcoholish. Ends dark roasted, smoked and thick alcohol.

Cask at GBBF, 2011. Dark reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Sour, woody aroma with some smoky malt notes. Smoky carbon like flavour with a tinge of sourness. Quite a malty feel. Dry, smoky finish. Very challenging this one!

33 cl bottle @ home on International Beer Day. Color as good as black, opaque. Small beige head, very fine, foamy. Aroma’s of hard roasted malts, soy sauce, red fruit, whisky, wood. Flavor is roasted, slightly sweet with tones of wood. Pretty strong alcohol feel. Syruppy. Long finish with wood, ash/peat and some bitterness. Grote klasse.

Roasted coffee aroma. Taste starts wooden whisky like, roasted coffee taste with high alcohol finish.
Nice beer.

Black beer with a nice holding and sticking light brown head. Roasted liquorish, alcohol. Malty, nice bittering. Woorden, slightly sour an smoked at both smell an taste.

Typical pitch black stout colour. Smells malty and alcohol, no surprises there. Rich, full aroma. Sour, woody and clearly affected by something which could very well be whiskey barrel. Is this perfect stout? I’d say very close so.
