The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head
In long: Nose has a lot of oak, some nail polish remover and some roast. Intense and somewhat unsettling aroma. Taste is harsh roasted malts, grainy sensation, aggressive oak presence, metallic flavor, a shot of whisky, burnt pastry, chocolate cake icing. Boozy and astringent finish. Harsh from beginning to finish. I needed over 30 minutes to work through a little 330ml bottle. Maybe not as bad as my description makes it to be, but this is not very drinkable. And a bit expensive too. Not sure why I bought this beer, not the first time I am disappointed by Emelisse. I may never learn from my mistakes and unfortunately lawyers will continue to earn from them.

This beer is growing. Yes literally. Extremely much scent. Heavy flavor that tastes much barrel. The aftertaste is too heavy and would never end. May be the heaviest I have been drinking.

Poured a dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Medium to full bodies, flavour is sweet coffee and dark chocolate, some smoked malt but quite in the background. Bitter/sweet aftertaste.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Black with a tiny beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, liquorice, wood, tar, peated smoke, whisky and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Rich and oily. 100213

Bottle shared by potbeercollege. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy peat malt with earthy and herbal hops prune and raisin esters. Flavor is malt dominant with peat smoke malt, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body with medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours deep dark brown with thin, fizzy beige head. Aroma is peatty scotch, roast and caramel malts, oak, dates, and raisins. Flavor is peatty scotch, roast malt, dark fruit esters, and earthy hops; dry, peatty finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Nice barrel aged irs, with a little laphroigh influense. Expected more whisky dominace in the taste, but still very nice.
