Bottle from brewery. Dark brown color with almost no head. Aroma of plums, whiskey, wood, earthy notes. Taste, sweet, chocolate, coffee, licorice, caramel, syrup, whiskey, smoked wood. Coffee bitter, peated finish. Very nice, even better than not peated version.

Bottle at home. Black pour with a small beige head. Aroma of peat, dark fruits, roasted malts and a little chocolate. Flavour is slightly vinous, peat, chocolate dark overripe fruit, vanilla and some alcohol in the finish. Full bodied and low carbonation.

Thanks to ibrew2or3. Black pour. Aroma is up front smoke, band aid, espresso and dark chocolate. Peaty flavor, a little charred, some light tartness is present.

Draft at Brouwerij Lane. Earth and some Peat in the aroma, Rich and sweet dried fruit on the palate with some tartness for balance, also some Peat, licorice and caramel. Alcohol is well disguised.

Borefts Beer Festival 3. Opaque black beer, residual tan head. Light semi dry palate. Minerals. The dark malt is not too heavy and has a touch of lacto sweetness. The smoke is also quite mild. What could have been a difficult beer is quite light and drinkable.

Boreft Beer Festival 2011: Black with a small tan head. Aroma of meaty smoke, licorice and caramel. Sweet malty flavour with licorice and chocolate and again, lovely meaty smoke, not heavy medicinal.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2011. Pours a pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is malt, roasted, peat and smoke. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness and smoke. Overall a good beer.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pitch black, brown head. Aroma of light earthy peat, liquorice root powder, roasted malts, chocolate, light vanilla. Flavour is sweet, roasted malts, nice light sweet earthy liquorice root peaty notes, chocolate, coffee, hard roasted malt and coffee finish. Fullbodied, soft carbonation. Great stout.

Tap @ BBF. Black pour, small brown head. Aroma has dark roast, plenty of peat and smoke, meat and some dark, dried fruits. Taste is quite peated with liquorice, dark fruits, smoke, cannabis and then some more peat. Quite enjoyable.
