Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival @ De Molen, Bodegraven. Pitch black, opaque color, brown head. Smell peat, coffee, wood and whisky. Taste smoke, peat, coffee and whisky again. Medium carbonation, medium body.

On draught at the Boreft Beer Festival, 2011. A dark brown ale with a brown head. A big, smoky, peaty, iodine nose. Similar smoky flavour with roasted malt, burnt toast and caramel. Great!

Bottle @ Borefts Beer Festival. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is gentle peated whiskey notes. espresso, roastyness, chocolate, sweet caramel and sweet liquorice. Taste is liquorice, smoke, somehow wool notes (not on the palate though), sawdust and hops.

From bottle @ BBF 2011. Deep dark brown color. Ashy aroma with soy sauce. Peaty ashy flavor, blowing away all malt and chocolate notes. oaky with tobacco. Good, but not optimally balanced..

bottle at de molen festival ... deep dark roast ... big whiskey ... deep dark roast nose ... dark malts ... big chocolate roas... dark roast ... again too much whsikey ... but solid chololate ... mix this with some non ba and it could be a winner.

33cl, as Emelisse Imperial Russian Stout (with sticker ’PEATED’), new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2011, from De Bierkoning Amsterdam, complex smoked Stout, roasted and slightly bitter/fruity, not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive!

Beer with quite a kick. Dirty tasting but interesting beer full of chocolate, earth and some black berries. Almost no carbonation and hardly any foam. Finish is really dry and biting. Great.
