thewolf (5623), Kolding, Denmark Nov 7, 2009 Tap @ 1st BBF, De Molen.
Pours completely black with a big, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, lightly smokey, coffee and well roasted. Low carbonation, great dry and oily mouthfeel. Sweet chocolate flavour, lightly roasted, a touch of liqourice. Really weel composed. Very nice A7 A4 F8 P4 Ov15 3.8 goozen (1061), Leiden, Netherlands Aug 16, 2009 Bottle 0,5ltr: Very black coloured brew with an white-brown head. Taste of several chocolate flavors and some hidden sourness. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 8, 2009 Bottle 50cl. Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, licorice. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090320] MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jul 6, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts After Tasting. Rich dark brown with a thin tan head. Vanilla, oak, caramel and adorable notes of crème brûlée. The oak and vanilla are SO well done and the Amarillo give a really great balance. The honey is integrated perfectly and reminds me rather a lot of Thornbridge Bracia. Excellent bitter chocolate finish with late caramel and more oak. Really good stuff. Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 29, 2009 On tap @ In de Wildeman. Pitch black body with a nice, dense, rust red head. A very pleasant aroma of roasted malt, liquorices, mocha, coffee, chocolate and fruit. Flavor is as aroma, mild but distinct roasted malt, mocha, bitter chocolate, coffee and hops. Amazingly balanced and smooth, with a Belgium touch. Full bodied and an aftertaste that goes on forever. No alcohol, just a smooth warming feeling. Really great stuff, thanks to the bartender for the recommendations. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 29, 2009 Huge, dark brown-cream head, over well-carboanted, pitch-black beer. Smoked ham!! Sulphur, and something chemical, as the air in industrial area. Faint coffee. Sweet and salty, again positively smoked ham. However, surprising little bitterness. Carbonation very traceable in the MF, even some sourness from the CO². Well-bodied, oily. Alcohol is remarkably hidden. Not quite a RIS as I see it. Ought to have soem more roasted malts, and certainly more hops. Borresteijn (1347), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jun 19, 2009 Taster from tap at In de Wildeman. Black colour, beige/brown head. Aroma of sweet fruits, peaches, liquorice. Flavour is sweet, peaches again, lots of other fruits, roasted malts, liquorice. Very late bitterness in the finish. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Different, good, but too sweet for my liking. Will re-rate if I get my hands on more.
