BB 07/16. Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has a grassiness, a light smoke, and a touch of meat. Full body, medium carbonation. Big, sticky and boozy with all the elements you’d associate with a good impy. Coffee, choc, soy as well as a sweet grass fruitiness, rum, treacle.... Its good, lovely balance, super tasty.

(Drinking date: 9 May 2014) A pitchblack beer with a good beige creamy layer of foam, looks really delicious! Sweet aroma of alcohol, sugar, chocolate and coffee. The taste is really delicious. A coffee-bitterness, followed by a lovely sweetness. You also taste some chocolate. The mouthfeel is really perfect. Just a little bit of carbonation, with an oily/full texture. Really soft texture. This beer is really delicious. It is one of my favourite beers of all time. You almost can’t get any better than this. That’s why I give it the total score of 4.5!

Draft at Rustico Ballston. Thanks Iphonephan! Poured a pitch black color, velvet, with a small tan head. Aroma was 92% cacao with some very dark plum and burnt espresso/malt. Flavor was roasted, roasted, roasted. Dark bitter chocolates. Alcohol is there, but feels lower than 11%.

Very dark with a brownish off white head. Nice spicy yet subtle aroma. Soft mouth feeling with a taste ranging from spices, coffee to hops. Nice bitter aftertaste. Very nice russian Imperial stout.

Bottle. Small brown head. Murky black-brown. Aroma has coffee, chocolate, wood and nut. Taste has cocoa, coffee, caramel and soy. Full bodied, very smooth. Alcohol is well hidden. Aftertaste lingers nicely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep black color with a nice brown head that fades out quite quickly but keeps a nice lacing for long time. Aroma is roasted malty and coffee, hints of chocolate and caramel. Flavor is sweet with roasted bitterness notes. Low carbonation in a full body and a sweet bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy but stable tan head. Clear but rather faint aroma of malt, caramel and coffee. Dark, roasty flavour of coffee, malt and liquorice, with touches of caramel. Bitter and roasty aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Good.
