Bottle from Pivoljub, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Shared with Igor and lovely Anja. Dark brown to black, diminishing beige head. Red fruits, barrel, coffee. Very dry, very roasty, heavy on the barrel, dry fruits, alcohol. Roasty kick, full taste. Complex, quite special.

Rich luscious, velvet, alcohol, roasty, coffee. Chocolate, licorice, black colour, medium beige head, lacing. Lots of fruity hoppiness, citric, resinous, bursting of tropical fruits and pine. Big bite, lightly sweet (for the style), salty, ABV evident, but very well integrated. Fullbodied, soft carbonation, hoppy and aromatic finish. Two words: world class!

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2015 Butelka, warka do marca 2018. W smaku bardzo ladnie wywazone, choc nieco alkoholowe, acz nieprzeszkadzajaco. slodkie i kwaskowate. milo gladkie i pelne. takie jedwabiste. dosc dlugie posmaki. slody robia robote :)

dosc wylezakowana butelka i o dziwo z wada: rozpuszczalnik :( ale na szczescie latwo sie ulatniajacy, poza onem nadal klasa

Bottle from Brewery. Liquorish and burnt malt aroma. Black colour with brown foam. Flavor typical chocolate malt. This is a fairly standard IRS, nothing too special, but well executed. The Barrel Aged versions have an extra something which make them more exciting, but overall not bad.

Typical RIS aroma, dense and thick, full of melted chocolate notes with dehydrated plums in chocolate in the background. Unfortunately itís so wick, it should be much more intensive. Itís a pitch black beer, almost non-transparent, clear, with nice tanned, brown head. Nice lacing. Itís definitely full bodied, alcohol is not covered well enough. In taste itís very dry, I prefer more sweet imperial stouts. This one is not balanced very good. Itís super bitter, full of frizzled notes. In the aftertaste has small touch of dark chocolate and massive bitterness. It heats your stomach very quickly. Itís very good beer, but I was expecting more. I think itís very good for ageing.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch A. AROMA: dark chocolate aroma with some raisins notes, balanced with a mild sweet malty background. no hop aromas. mild vinous-like aroma. APPEARANCE: dark color and opaque. medium light brown head with good retention and lacing. TASTE: a very nice combination of roasted malt with notes of dark chocolate, some coffee and dried grapes. balanced with a slight sweet background. medium-low bitterness from hops and roasted grains. finishes semi-dry and roasted. PALATE: medium-full body with a velvety texture sensation. medium carbonation and smooth warmth sensation. OVERALL: a very nice and bittersweet imperial stout. recommended.
