4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. A more or less black one, with a finger-thick dark beige to brown head on top. Very hoppy nose, with pine cones, citrus peel and resin, and sufficien amounts of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Quite bitter flavor, with citrus peel, pine cones and resin, and roasted malts, coffee and chocolate from the malts. Lasting bitterness in the end. Full-bodied, quite dry and with a touch of warmth. A quite wonderful one, certainly one I’d like to repeat. 110916

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark opaque brown color, small steady brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, herbal-hayish aromas, at first some barnyard. Full-bodied. Intensive flavor of licorice, alcohol, coffee beans, chocolate. Lingering licorice and alcohol in the aftertaste. Probably needs some ageing, but really interesting strong stout.

30cl bottle. Small tan head atop black body with brown edges. On the surface, in the middle of the glass, was a bubble of chocolate sludge -- I literally put my finger into the bubble and out came the sludge. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast/coffee, some bittersweet chocolate, burnt. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, some dark chocolate/syrup, light burnt, alcohol. Sticky full body.
