3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jerohen (1875) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - JUN 8, 2013
Bottled, gift from a colleague (Toni). Black appearance, brown head. Aroma of cocoa and caramel, some roasted malts, vanilla. Very sweet malty flavor. Not as Creme Brulee-like as e.g. the Southern Tier example (which is a good thing), but still the combination of flavors feels weird for a beer. Some hops shining through in the finish, that’s remarkable! Experimental, interesting, but not really my thing i’m afraid. Brewed for a good cause (KiKa).
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 larsga (5364) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 10, 2013
Small beige head. Opaque black body. Intense vanilla fudge aroma with dry cocoa notes. Dry-sweet roasty caramelly chocolatey taste with spicy vanilla notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, buttery mouthfeel. Dryish resiny chocolate and vanilla fudge aftertaste with spicy cinnamon notes. Fruity wild berry background, also somewhat perfumy. Nice, drinkable, bold. A difficult beer to do well, but they succeeded. (0.75l bottle at ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam, shared with gr0ve.)

Bottle:
Medium sized creamy beige light tan foamy head that changes quick into a staying thick lacing on top of a black colored beer.
Aroma has lots of milk chocolate, some sweets, caramel, creme brulee, toffee, chalk and cacoa powder.
Flavours of milk chocolate, spices like cloves, light bitter, cacoa, light sweet coffee hints, caramel, light bitter, light chocolate chalk and a hint of roast.
Aftertaste chocolate, bitter, cacoa, light spices and toast/roast.
Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a creamy texture.
Wow, didn’t expect this, pretty good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fin (6185) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 25, 2013
Bottle shared with my dad at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, Friday 8th March 2013 Pours very dark brown, actually its probably black with large light beige head. Aroma is sort of creamy chocolate, sweetness wafts off of this. Taste was initially quite big caramel with vanilla creaminess and milk chocolate but the caramel was the key thing I noticed, but also creamy and very smooth. This actually improved from an unpromising start and the hops which I had barely noticed started to wrestle a little of the ground back and pushed the sweetness back. Ok this is a sweet stout but it was actually better than I initially thought. Not bad, I think that Craig would like this. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov15 3.6

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2013) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, crème brulée and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with milky chocolate, cacao, crème brulée and a gentle cacao bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Very nice stout with a generous chocolate and vanilla character.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lusikka (4124) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 3, 2013
750 ml bottle @ ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Rated on 24.2.2013.
Pours a black colour with a white head. Aroma is very sweet, as you’d expect from a crème brûlée stout. Also strong roastiness, vanilla and wet earth on the nose. Flavour is really smooth with vanilla, roasted malts, dark chocolate, plums and alcohol. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation and a smooth, malty, sweet finish. Enjoyable.
