Bottle shared. Poured a cloudy brown with a thin tan head. The aroma was weak but floral. The flavour is grassy. Very grassy in fact. There is little bitterness and nothing on the palate. It's rather thin to be honest. Not one of their better beers.

I have all three of them put together and tasted: the Notenbock Hazelnoot Emelisse; the Notenbock Kastanje Jopenkerk and the Notenbock Amandel Preal. Color appears lighter than the other two, but the beer is cloudy. Foam well, the structure is the coarsest. Flavor: musty hops, malt. The basic taste (scale from 1 to 5) sweet: 2, sour: 0, Bitter: 1, the after taste: sweet: 3, sour: 1, bitter: 1. The sweet aftertaste gets in a surprising twist, it becomes softer and dryer. This beer was drinkable, but the Amandel was technically better.

Draught at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam, as Hazelnotenbock
Black color, creamy head. The color is dark, almost black. There is some oxidized aroma and flavor of caramel, with relatively low bitterness, light residual sweetness, and no trace of hazelnut.

Brown to black coloured, with a minimal off white head, quickly disappearing. Lots of carbonation. Aroma has caramel, roasted malts, some coffee. Taste is slightly bitter, smooth, medium body, nice but a short finish. Not a typical bock.

On tap in the Wildeman. Poured dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma of nuts, malt and milk chocolate. Medium body, flavour of nuts, sweet malt, milk chocolate and caramel. Moderate aftertaste.

Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks interesting. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Starts strong, fine malty spicy, intense note of nuts. Finish a bit unbalanced, spicy and woody. Nice one.

33cl Bottle from Mitra Rokin. Dark brown colour with a tiny red hue, off-white creamy head. Aroma is very earthy, hazelnut shells, fibres, sweet dark malts, tiny hint of chocolate. Flavour is medium-sweet, very earthy again, like drinking dry earth, nutshells, hazelnut, chocolate, cocoa, hint of dark fruits, light bitter finish. Medium-bodied at best, soft mouthfeel.

Aroma of caramelized hazelnuts. The are some nice dark malty, sweet falvours but the hazelnuts are maybe a bit green. This gives an aftertaste which reminds me of broad beans!
