The Emelisse Rauchbier is brewed with a unique combination of five different malts, and with a large percentage of smoked malt from Bamburg, Germany. The maltery from which it comes is known around the world for the superior quality of this special malt, which is smoked on damp beechwood.

Bottle from Alko at Arkadia, Helsinki. Dark, slightly hazy amber with a small head. Smokey aroma and taste. Also sausage and ham. The finish was dry with notes of wood. Very nice!

bottle, with thanks to Bierkoning! Hazy brown colour, large beige head. Pleasant aroma of smoke. Solid malty base with quite a lot of hops, unusual at first, but it goes well with the smoky character of the beer. Very nice.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours murky yellow/brown with a small beige head. Aroma of burnt bacon, smoke, some dark fruits. Flavour of smoked bacon, ashtray, wood. Leaves a dry, dirty mouth feel. Medium bodied. Not my cup of tea,

11.2 oz. bottle, pours hazy dark orangey amber with a beige head. Aroma of pungent smoke / peat like a fire pit and tobacco like - not very inviting to me. Flavour is pretty much the same - tobacco, fire pit smoke, super burnt / charred malts, with a slightly sweet and smokey finish. Definitely not my thing.

Nice sweet salty smoked nose. Mesquite, meat, some caramelized notes. Pours amberish brown, thin head. Nice flavors of sweet smoke, mesquite, leather, meat, some burnt roastiness in there a bit at times. Dry sweet smokey finish. Solid drinkability. Nice stuff.

Probably the best smoked beer I’ve had so far. Smell nuts, smoked, malts. Very nice color, dark brown with a deep red glow. Nice taste and a pretty good body considering only 6.2 ABV.

black and white beer... both taste and aroma contain a lot of, well, smoke... but not much else, which is a shame.. texture starts out oily, but turns watery after a few sips... nice salty, warming (firelike) finish

Dark amber colour. Smells like nuts, smoke. Bit hoppy also. Not really my favorite beer.

From bottle. Mild nutty-smoky aroma, with tangy malt sweetness and light citrusy notes. Dark amber clear with light haze, topped with off-white creamy lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with medium malt sweetness, pilsner malt with mild smoke. Stays medium sweet with mild chalky bitterness and light tannins. Finish is bitter with dry after, nutty sweet with a bit of smoke.
