3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught on the Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2011!
In the glass light copper colored, medium cloudy. The foam is very short-lived. The beer smells smoky and like smoked ham. It starts with more ham aroma than expected. Slightly fruity, roasty notes in the background. The aftertaste shows more roasted malty, the smoky ham flavor is hard to taste. Further, the beer is then more smoked, The beer comes in a sweet and fruity finish, with excellent smoked aromas!

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 30 cl. Pours a clear dark brown with a medium tan head and an aroma that’s dominated by smoke, almost like my there’s something on fire in my house in the beginning. The taste is also very high on smoke. Besides that there’s smoked malts and sweet malts, fishy hops, toffee and chocolate. Not that bad, but certainly not one of my favorites.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An expensive 10.14 oz bottle. Apparently is an ale and not a Rauchbier.
It pours a clear brown with a foamy off-white head. The head quickly recedes with no lacing.
The smell is very smoky and campfirey. But it also as a prevailing caramel sweetness.
The flavor is alright. It is a very light beer. It has mostly lager characeristics. Nice bready malt, a subtle hop note. The smoke definitely isn’t overboard.
It is a nice one, but have a Bamberger Rauch for less money rather than this.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 4 on 2 December 2010. Amber colour. Hazy appearance. Rather faint smoke on the nose but builds up somewhat on the palate. Some hoppy notes too. Ends up pretty decent although I generally prefer more the more extreme rauchbiers.

Bought through mailbox, Chicago .. . bottle: a sneaky 10.14oz bottle- tricksters! .. . sweet maple, smoke, and sweet bbq pit .. . dark tan, with light sturdy head .. . wonderful playfulness on the tongue, a little sweet, a little smokey- a fun delicious beer! .. . a bold body for this style, not as silky as some but the smoke presence is great! .. would love to have more than just this one bottle, a great dutch brew!! .. . The butler is head of the kitchen and dining room. I keep everything tidy.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2011 On tap @ the brewpub $ bottled @ home. The aroma has smoked meat, caramel and grassy german hops. Clear, amber coloured beer with a lasting off-white head. The taste is slightly bitter, has sweetness, bacon, caramel and grassy hops. The body is bit fuller than the Bamberg versions of this beer. Really well made Rauchbier. I like to add, this is for me the best beer from Emelisse. Absolute top in its style.
