The Emelisse Rauchbier is brewed with a unique combination of five different malts, and with a large percentage of smoked malt from Bamburg, Germany. The maltery from which it comes is known around the world for the superior quality of this special malt, which is smoked on damp beechwood.

A solid strong aroma. This is fantastic! A great smoked flavor that has a body with just the right depth. Really truly excellent.

Poured from an 11.2 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer is a murky brown color with an off-white head. The aroma and flavor gas a nice smoky texture. A really good beer.

Bought through mailbox, Chicago .. . bottle: a sneaky 10.14oz bottle- tricksters! .. . sweet maple, smoke, and sweet bbq pit .. . dark tan, with light sturdy head .. . wonderful playfulness on the tongue, a little sweet, a little smokey- a fun delicious beer! .. . a bold body for this style, not as silky as some but the smoke presence is great! .. would love to have more than just this one bottle, a great dutch brew!! .. . The butler is head of the kitchen and dining room. I keep everything tidy.

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy amber orange color with small creamy off-white head. Aroma of smoked sausage, ham, leather with some earthy hints. Taste starts with moderate sweet malt supported with strong smoke character, following is umami with some fruity notes, warming mouthfeel and moderate bitter finish. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Liquid smoked sausage :)

An excellent smoked beer. Obviously, the smoke is the dominany flavor, but it isn’t overwhelming. It is a weaker bodied beer, with a hint of alcohol at the beginning and end. Tried with Dave at the brewery in April, 2012.

Probablemente la mejor cerveza ahumada que haya probado. El sabor te trae recuerdos de huno, queso, frutos secos. Espectacular

Amber color, beige head. Smokey aroma and taste. Nice bitterness too. Not as smokey as a schlenkerla, but nicely balanced. Very good rauchbeer!

Dobre i pachnace dymem piwo wedzone. Ciemne, dymne i smaczne, dosc tresciwe. Ale inny maja jednak harakter piwa z Bamberga, bardziej mi odpowiadaja. Tu byla wieksza slodowosc. Ale i tak doba rzecz.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2013 Bottled. Clear amber color, medium head. Aroma of malt, lovely smoke like the german rauchs, bacon, hint of citrussy hop, burned wood. Dryish woody taste, sharp smoked (the good way), nice bitter touch that balances well. Good body. Lovely smoked beer like the traditional german smoked ones.

bottle. murky root beer colored under a large beige head. smoked pepperoni aroma. palate is light to medium and creamy. flavor is mostly smoked/charred meats but also has an interesting fruity hop note that goes well with the smoked malt like grilled pineapple or peaches.
