Serving type: bottle. Holy moly this is smoky. On the nose, itís smoky, really smoky, like the ashes of a barley field after a rain. The taste is intense - strong smoke, a hint of coffee, and a hint of stout. Mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin, but I donít think it a bad thing. Overall, itís not my favorite beer, but I definitely appreciate it for what it is. Itís like drinking a smoke bomb, though a bit sweeter and with fewer carcinogens. If Rauchbiers are your thing, Iíd definitely recommend.

12 oz bottle. Black with a decent sized beige head. Aroma is of smoke, coffee, light play dough, roasted malts and leather. The coffee and smoke play well together. Quite smokey with coffee, tobacco, roasted malt, a hint of ash, and some cocoa.

Bottle. The look is dark, black in color, and has a tan head. The smell is smoke, ash, burnt, malt, and coffee. The taste is coffee, beans, intense smoke, ash, cigarettes, and leather.

330. Pours black with a dense and creamy tan head that disappears. Huuuuge campfire and beef jerky nose, super ashy and salty. Sticky thick body, soft carb. Ash and salt and campfire and beef jerky all over the mid palate. A bit much. Long ashy dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body under a fizzy one finger light brown head. The nose is intensely smoky and meaty, it smells wonderful. Reminds me a bit of summer sausage. Excellent campfire smoke, chocolate malt, and a citrusy coffee note. The flavor is really smoky, one of the most extremely smoky Porters Iíve ever come across. Crazy campfire smoke, so much so that it almost obscures the coffee thatís in here. Light to medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering burnt smoky finish. Tastes a bit like thereís some peaked malt in here as well. Pretty excellent Smoked beer if youíre into them.

Tap @ Arendsnest, medium sample. Dark color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of peat, roasted malts, some dark chocolate, slight caramel. Didnt get a lot of coffee, peat was a bit in the way I guess. Taste is slight sweet, medium bitter, quite dry, peaty. The peat is not as dominant as in peated whiskeys, but it still defines the character of the beer. Balance is ok. Just not my cup of tea, eerr, coffee.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/2015. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big smoked meat, wood, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, roasted malt, light char, herbal, and smoke/roast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/smoked malt and coffee notes; with good strength. Taste of cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, smoked meat, wood, toast, dark bread, light char, herbal, light pine, and smoke/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast/coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, smoked meat, wood, toast, dark bread, herbal, light char, light pine, and roast/smoke earthiness on the finish for a while. Good robustness and complexity of dark/smoked malt and coffee flavors; with solid balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice smoked porter style. Good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/smoked malt and coffee flavors; and smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

a bottle from CBX in Charleston SC- pours a rich brown with a thin disapating head and a slightly smoky burnt aroma- the coffe is up front and the smoke is everywhere- it is a little thin but full flavored-not for the beer drinker who likes their smoke subtle- i like this but not the best smoked porter Iíve had

(Just to note, this pint came from the bottom of the keg, so it might be a bit more yeasty than it should.) The appearance is a cloudy brown with a very small head, and the aroma is purely smoke. The taste has just as much smoke as the aroma with a slight sourness and mild umami coming through as well, and the palate fuses a heavy body, slick and thick texture, nearly flat carbonation, and a smokey finish.
