thick beige head that disappears with lacing. coffee-cola coloured. aroma of smoked malts and leather. tastes of smoked malt, liquorice, leather, bitter aftertaste with also some slight sweetness in the end. medium carbonation and body with a rather dense mouthfeel. special but def enjoyable. 33 cl / lot A / best before 3-2015

Heel donker bier lijkt wel zwart. Als je het tegen het licht houd zie je een rode gloed. Van de geur schrok ik even doordat ik chloor leek te herkennen en mijn alarm aan sprong. Dit veranderde in aangenaam verbrand hout (zoals uit de houtkachels als het hout net is verbrand) ook zat er iets looiachtigs in de geur deed me een beetje denken aan eikenhout wat in de werkplaats is verzaagd. Het eindigt met een groene lucht (vrees niet, geen erwtjes o.i.d.) maar meer omgehakte tomatenplant, misschien ontwaar ik hier de hop ? Heb net nog een smoked porter opengetrokken en net uit het flesje is de geur extreem geconcentreerd merk ik. Hoe smaakt het ? Lekker bitter (waarschijnlijk erg bitter, maar dat valt niet op door de omgevingssmaken) beetje metalig, zag in een eerdere review door een fin zeggen dat het smaakte naar leer en beter gezegd naar verse leren schoenen. Begrijp precies wat onze fin bedoelt. Een asfaltweg van laurier . Plakkerig rookaroma maar heel prettig. Ik heb inmiddels zo’n x aantal rookbieren gedronken maar moet toch altijd denken aan andere gerookte dingen die je in je mond steekt. Ik vind het heerlijk om een moutige borrel te drinken bij gerookte vis of zoete vruchten bij ham te knabbelen. Ik denk dat een zelfgejaagde aardbei er lekker bij smaakt en daarna achter de gebreide onderbroek. Lekker bier Emelisse !! Ga ik zeker nog eens drinken !

I like black beer with a good tan head so yrs I like this one too. Smells like smoke, ash, roasted, burned wood. Nice! The taste is really odd. Smokey, tones of zoethout (dutch) nice bitter. Almost no carbo. Really thick body and a dry sticky end.

Dark clear ruby color, towards black with brown lasting foam head, lacing. Aroma is salty, smokey, next mornig BBQ. Taste is smokey charcoal wood. Aftertaste stays smokey for long time. (Velp 201304)

Bottle: Medium sized vast and slowly changing tan colored foamy head on top of a deep dark brown to black colored beer. Aromas of smoke, roast, diapers/manure, hint of tar and coal. Flavours of smoke, bitters, coal, hops, cream, floral tones, hint of liquorice wood, smoked and burned wood. Good strong and staying bitter tone. Aftertaste is smoke, smoked malts, bitters, floral and some smoked bitter tones. Low carbo, soft silky ish mouthfeel, good medium to lightly fuller body and a creamy texture. Good smokey, good bitter, good beer.

Poured dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma of sweet smoked malt. Medium creamy body, flavour of the smoked malt, vanilla coffee, some toffee.

Bottle shared from Deanso. Pours almost black with a beige head. Aroma of smokey bacon, peat, really strong. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate heavy bitter, coming out more in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Pours brown color with small head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malts and ripe fruits. Flavor of smoky ham, roasted malts and some fruity notes, lots of tar also.

Aroma is smoky with leather and some tar – actually really close to new leather shoes. Flavour is rather strong on smoke. Also some woody and leathery notes with tar. A bit too thin, but nice anyway.

Bottled. Deep murky coppery brown with basically no head. Aroma is smoked wet wood, rar, some roasted malts, mild raisins and plummy notes as well. Flavour is quite big on the tar, mild roasted malts, some slight burnt wet wooden notes as well as some slight toffee and raisins.
