Pours a hazy orange with a weak white head full of big bubbles that leaves good lacing but is not aesthetically pleasing in the end. Aroma is of alcohol, strange hops and not so fresh fruits. Taste is sweet and bitter, reminds me of an american barleywine. Flavors are not that distinctive and revolve mostly around alcohol. Bitterness is medium-high, almost harsh. Finish is bitter and lingers for a long time. Body is full, mouthfeel really oily. Carbonation is light, reinforcing the oily/sticky impression. Overall a weak brew, I didn’t find much enjoyment in this one.

33 cl. bottle @ my parents home, shared with my dad. Murky orange/amber with virtually no head at all. Aroma of citrus, mainly grapefruit, and some pineapple. Taste is not as bitter as expected given the fact this is a TIPA. The alcohol is very well concealed, making this TIPA taste and feel like a ’regular’ IPA. Good beer but not very special.

SAQ private import. Pours a cloudy deep amber colour with a nice frothy warm cap, good retention and some great thick creamy lacing. The nose is hoppy, but with lots of fruity-nutty notes, and caramel malts blending things. Medium-bodied with a slick mouthfeel. Quite smooth for a 10% ABV and the taste is pretty mild. Mild bitterness that gets a little stronger in the finish. From citrus fruits and nuts to grass and the zest of the citrus. Goes down too smoothly and pretty well-balanced overall.

Bottle. Hazy orange colour, medium long lasting white head. Nice hoppy aroma: Lychee and mango, some malt in bacground. In taste firstly malty sweetness, but it quickly turns to high hoppy bitterness. Thick feel, long bitter finish.

Bottle (330 ml). Couple months old. Murky amber/orange with a medium beige head and little lacing. Aroma is of citrus, malt sweetness, caramel and perfumy notes. Taste is moderately sweet with caramel, citrus, perfumy hops and moderate bitter finish. Alcohol is present, but not overpowering. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Slightly dry finish. It’s too sweet and there’s too much alcohol to be enjoyable, but it isn’t completely bad either. Aroma is interesting.

This just smacks of a robot with flailing arms calling out "Danger! Danger!" and the reason being is a serious amount of alcohol and the green tinge to the head that suggests that whoever put the hops into the boil of this brew didn’t do it by halves. Is my expectation justified? Well, the sudden surge of alcohol when I poured the beer into a glass makes me think that this won’t take any prisoners. It’s hardly beautiful, being cloudy to the point of murky in the glass and the head buggered off in short order leaving a crescent of film. It smells of warm summer fruit tart and fusty basement alcohols. There are top notes of green hoppiness and a taste brings out the innocuous orchard fruits first and then a rich, silky body. The flavour really is this beer’s strong-point. There’s generous slightly syrupy mouthfeel and then the undercurrent of angry American hops starts to come through. Angry is probably too far a description, they’re mildly miffed - like they’ve seen someone looking around their car parked on the street and suspect that person of eyeing it up to steal it, or worse, give it a parking ticket. The finish is surprisingly mellow, as if it was a mouthful of port with a good hunk of blue cheese: it is mellow, warm and luxurious. It is that with reference to apricots, peach leather and nectarines. For such an ugly, dangerous beer it ended well and I like that.

Bottle. Pours hazy rich amber with airy but stable beige head. Clear aroma of hops, citrus and needles. Sweetish, malty flavour, with rich, bitter, hoppy notes and touches of grass. Lingering, rough and mildly citric aftertaste. Thick body. Discernible alcohol presence. Well-balanced. Good. Really good.
