Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Nearly clear, amber colour. Thin halo of white head. Blimey, this is big! Sweet, boozy grain. Imagine a tin of strawberries, stuck in a pan, and reduced down. With a slug of woody, thick booziness added. Some minty toffee, too. Palate is rich, slick, and fruity. Taste is sweet, boozy, and bitter, all rolled in to one. Finishes chewy bitter. Lip sticky goodness. The Missus loves it. I’m less convinced.

Bottle. Hazy/unclear orange, no head. Sugar caramel, vanilla, coconut, hot alcohol. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, near heavy sweet, medium bitterness. Sticky and sugary. Ok, but this type of beer has a tendency to wear me out quickly.

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Grand Tasting - Moncada Brewery. Pours clear golden-amber with a mellow foamy head. The nose has nice toffee character, ripe fruits, bread. Hugely sweet with moderate alcohol presence, rich bread, caramel, dry citrus, stewed apples. Big bodied with average carbonation. Warm and sticky to finish, very sugary, with lots of ripe fruits and bready malts. Good stuff but really hefty.

.33cl bottle courtesy of angst, Thanks. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a small beige head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma features toffee, pears, sherry and a trace of whiskey. The taste is big one toffee, sherry and mild whiskey with bitter walnuts filling in the back and sides. The palate was full, smooth and just a bit oil with lively carbonation. Finished long and slightly sweet with lingering toffee and bitters. Overall: First rate BW, much enjoyed--thanks again.

Flaska. Mycket gott.

Brilliant. Displays barrel like a hammer to the face. Smooth easy malt holds the body.

Bottle grand tasting RBESG14. Hazy amber no real head. Candied tangerine. Sweet. Barrel ageing helps the beer. Pretty decent. Like it really. Nice.

33 cl bottle. BBE 12/2015.
Pours cloudy mahogany color with a minimal head. Lots of sweet fruits and toffee on the nose, caramel malts, some biscuits, bourbon, wood and faint syrup. Sweet apricot and sugary caramel on the flavor, lots of bourbon, mild vanilla also. Soft carbonation, full-bodied, nice warming alcohol burn on the finish. This might be too sweet for some but it’s just the right amount for the alcohol content. Very good.

Deep mahogny color, bone white head. Super nice aroma of bourbon, caramel, oak, dried fruits, vanilla, hints of smoke. Taste is very sweet and very heavy. Some nice bitterness also. Alcohol is well hidden. Really love these heavy and sweet barley wines but one bottle is too much, had to share with a mate.
