Pours hazy orange amber with minimal frothy off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, butterscotch, burnt butter, caramel. Taste is sweet caramel, boozy, warming sweetish finish. Body is rich and creamy with soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottled) Hazy, dark reddish brown with a small, but partly lasting head. Very strong vanilla and bourbon barrel aroma with notes of alcohol. Flavor is sweet and dark-fruity, slightly tart with strong vanilla-bourbon notes and some oaky tannins in the finish. Actually a lot better with yeast, as the vanilla gets less pronounced, and the thick fig-raisiny, dark fruitiness kicks in. Very thick and full body with lowish CO2 and sticky-syrupy maltiness. Very enjoyable and balanced for such a big dessert beer. 7449

Pours a beautiful dark orange beer with a not very long lasting white head. Smells vanilla, bourbon and milk. Tastes chocolate, vanilla, and milk. I love this stuff. Low carbo, medium body and a sticky oily texture. Another great barley wine from emelisse.

Bottle with thanks to MrHangover. Pours hazy chestnut amber, small beige head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is sugary, caramel, toffee, bourbon. Flavor is the same, quite sweet, bourbon, light astringence, light bitterness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, fair amount of ABV burn in the mouth and throat

Clear ruby red beer, creamy white to light beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet and sugary, lots of vanilla, caramel, alcohol, dried fruits. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: sweet start with lots of vanilla, cherries, some dried fruits, bit sugary, soft alcohol notes. Aftertaste: little sourish, lots of vanilla, some caramel, bit sugary, sweet, some citrus, slightly hoppy. What a lovely beer!

On tap @ Borefts 2013. This is a light cloudy or deep blurry wood brown one. It had a small islandy head thatís leaving good lacework on the sides of the glass. The nose is filled with sweet caramel and sticky malt goodness. Itís not to extreme really but present and quite inviting. Canít sense to much of the buffalo to be honest. Maybe some wet rocky thing all the way in the back? Itís just as sticky and caramel malt sweet in the taste as the aroma told me it should be. Vanilla wood and a little whisky burn makes this really interesting and flavorful. Itís also somewhat fruity with lots of ripe old fruits. All flavors are well integrated and itís a really good barley. 28.09.2013

Tons of vanilla. Not much of a head cherry wood color. Lots of the bourbon in the aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
