Poured a reddish amber with a small off white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and dark fruits. Medium, creamy body, flavour of honey, dark fruit with a lingering alcoholic hit. Not as well balanced as it could be, but improved on the previous version.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with minimal and quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is malty, sweet, citrus and orange notes. Flavor is sweet, alcoholic, malty, notes of cookies and citrus. The final has notes of plumbcake and sweet malts.

Pours deep orange and copper with a thick off white head. The nose is sweet caramel, oranges, toffee, light anise and spice. The taste is heavy sweet with medium bitter. The body is heavy, texture is sticky yet soft a s creamy with a long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle picked up at the De Molen bottle shop pours with a clear copper body that exhibits deep golden hues and supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up caramel and malt syrup covered cherries and a sweet malty citrus hard candy sensation. The taste has an inviting sweet dark fruity ester English barleywine sensation before it picks up some thick sludgy malt sweetened citrus and pine hop flavor. The fruitiness begins with a cherry and then runs into a prune note and then picks up a complimentary thin caramel layer and thick sweet malts that blend with grapefruit and pine sap like hoppiness. This seems like a pleasing hybrid of a hoppy American barleywine and a sweet estery English version. This beer pulls it off very nicely. It is rich sweet hoppy and balanced and gives very little evidence of the big ABV. Well crafted product here. YUM!!

Bottle from De Molen online shop. Inviting amber bold body with medium puffed up head. Nose is buttery, yeasty, of caramel and barley. Taste is spicy, sweet, caramel, some fruits and plenty of sugar and butterscotch notes. Texture is smooth and creamy. Just delightful.

330 ml bottle. Rated on 25.2.2013.
Pours a dark copper colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet fruits, licorice and alcohol. Flavour of strong sweet fruits, warming alcohol, grassy bitterness and some hay. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a strong, very sweet and warming alcohol finish with fruitiness. A bit unbalanced but still quite a dessert.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Drankgigant. Hazy orange with a thin off-white head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, honey and malts. Fairly bitter taste with also a lot of sweetness. Hoppy aftertaste with some alcohol warmth although the alcohol is very well hidden considering its ABV. Complex brew but too sweet for my taste

Apparently I thought the 12 version was slightly better. There is a lot going on, maybe too much. Sour, bitter and somewhat too sweet. Also very high alc percentage. Bottle from De Bierkoning.

Clear amber brown with some yeast flock and a decent beige head. Aroma isn’t promising, just some sweet toffe vanilla icecream. Taste is sweet toffee, some vanilla ice, hop bitterness. Not the barley wine I’d hoped for.

Bottle. Orange golden color. Lumps of yeast. Dried fruit and cellar notes in the aroma. Grassy hops and dried fruit in the sweet but also alcoholic flavor. Aromas and flavors are still very much in the bud. This beer needs time, lots of time...
