3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 LoFi (1345) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 6, 2012
Bottle, thanks to MrHangover!
Hazy orange amber with a small porous head that dissolves into a ring.
Aroma: sweet maltiness, boozy, whiskey, toffee, fruit, vinous.
Taste: toffee, sweet whiskey (haven’t had Jack D in a good 10 years or so, but it was never a favourite), fruity, red berries, light earthy. The finish is light tart and wood.
Medium-bodied.
A bit too boozy, plus the whiskey flavours (which aren’t even from a very good whiskey) take over a bit. Otherwise it’s pretty good.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy dirty brown colour with no foam; some woody tones with notes of caramel and hints of grass and lemon; thick and full-bodied, some sweetness and a solid bitterness; low carbonation; long lasting bitterness with some residual sugars and long woody and caramelish, grassy tones

Cask@GBBF2012. Deep amber colour with no head. Aroma is sweetr malts, some sweet hops along with some whisky sweetness as well. Also mild vanilla. Flavour is the same in a very nice balance, although a bit more alcohol can be found in the flavour.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Idiosynkrasie (1987) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 7, 2012
330ml bottle. Cloudy amber colour with no head - just a thin layer bubbles up and lasts enduring. Aroma is initially heavy caramel malty, sweet, has notes of candied fruit, apple, syrup, then the vanilla-pregnant bourbon notes find their way through. Taste is slightly sweet and tart, caramel malty, well hidden alcohol. The finish is ruled by the whiskey notes with a salient leather touch. Very well balanced, concerning the sweet and tart notes as well as the not overdone Jack Daniels component. Doesn’t nevertheless meet my preferences.

33cl bottle from Emelisse Biershop, shared with Antoine @ HoppyLoft.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 NikkTwist (965) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2012
Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Hazy medium dark amber with a slim white head that left a bit of lace. Sweet and bitter with some red fruits. Blended well but hoped for more. Palate is good but feels unfinished.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 luttonm (1634) - Belgrade, SERBIA - JUN 14, 2012
Draft at In De Wildeman in Amsterdam. Crisp, hazy copper. Alc-heavy head. Rich boozy nose, oak and whiskey. Cinnamon, sugar. Rosy copper, tart body. Big warming alc. Leather, sour-hopping, coating sweet. Sour, skunky hopness, light carbonation. I don’t think Jack is the best barrel to age in, given some examples I’ve seen. Bit much in all directions but interesting and tasty.

Aroma of sticky candy Apple, bourbon, and cherry. Pours red and hazy. Taste is smooth and sweet with barley note mixed with candied cherries. Mouthfeel is surprisingly dry.
