3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 33 cl, thanks to Ingo! BB 03.15 A. Sampled on November 25, 2013.
Clear very dark red to black color, dark brown head. Dry, peat, cocoa, smoke, grainy scent. Smoke, dry, ashes, alcohol, sweet, roasted taste. Dry, smoke aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Smoked character is a bit too dry and peaty for me, I like it more to the sweet side and smoke at the same time.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, thanks Eddan.
Black with a small tan head. A lot of whisky both in the aroma and taste, also salt, peat and licorice. Not balanced but a nice beer to sip. The body was full and the aftertaste very long. Not a beer for the weak ones.

Bottle from Voldby. Black colour with a small off-white head. Smoky aroma of roasted malt, licorice and notes of chocolate. Very smoky taste. Roasted malt, some licorice, chocolate and maybe some coffee too. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Smoke and licorice in the finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Black colour with foamy, brown head. Smoky, roasted, malty nose with oak wood, Islay whisky, peat, tar, soy sauce and roasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with notes of oak wood, peat smoke, liquorice, soy sauce, dark bread and a certain roasty bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly in exceptional balance, with the oak wood and whisky character taking over a touch too much. But then I love Ardbeg whisky, so I can’t really complain. Quite extreme, but in my opinion very nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
09.08.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is peat, wet leather, dark malts, tar, grass, cocoa, coffee, hints of licorice. Taste is lots of peat, hops, leather, tar, harsh grass, burnt caramel, soil, rubber, pine needles. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Not my kind of beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Arendsnest. Black colour, thin tan head. Nose is massive peaty, light roasted malted, band aid. Flavour is peaty, a bit roasty, baind aid, light fruity. Finish is dry and slighty roasty. Not really a fan of the peatyness, but it could be worse I guess.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap sample @ Haand Festival 2013. Jet black body, small off-white head. Aroma is crazy Islay whisky action, wood, licorice and hints of chocolate. Too much, but still nice in a perverted sense. Taste is ashes, smoke, peat, tar, dark chocolate and hints of licorice. Full body, soft carbonation. Nice despite its extreme BA profile.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very complex brew. Basis is an intense imperial stout with strong notes of whiskey. Aftertaste is simply amazing, it lastes more than a minute.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap @ Arendsnest, small sample. Pitch black, medium brown head. Aroma is already carried by the air towards my nose: huge peat, medicine, bandaid. A bit too much for my liking to be honest, as Im not a fan of those heavily peated beers. For ardbeg lovers, it must be fantastic. The base beer suffers though. There is only some roasted malts left and a hint of coffee, but the brilliant biscuity sweetness and milk chocolat that I like so much in the base beer is completely gone. So, it lacks in balance and complexity. But if you like peated whiskeys, this will be perfect for you.
