3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 33 cl. BBE 09/2015. Pours black in color with a bubbly tan head. Peat, tar, smoked wood, whiskey notes in aroma. Feels a bit like sniffing on the cork to an Ardbeg bottle, but with some mellower indications, perhaps some bitter chocolate or licorice behind that. Light smokey, salty licorice and burnt wood in taste at first. Oily, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Very warming and something that leaves burning on ones tongue for awhile in aftertaste. Slightly sweet as in some dark chocolate, but mostly some smoke and peat. Nice one. A real winter warmer that takes several hours to finish it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a black beer with a weak beige head. The aroma is weak with malt, fruit, roasted, dried fruit and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose with additional peat and smoke. The palate is smoke, roasted and sweetness. Overall a good beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at ÷÷WF 2012. LOTS of Ardbeg in the nose, together with syrupy sweetness. Taste: Sweet as hell itself, ashes, lots of whiskey. "tastes like cigarette butts drenched in beer" someone said.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle from Bieresgourmet. Vertical with Sorachi Ace version
Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of strong peated notes, roasty malts, hints of smoke and licorice. Taste is strongly peated and smoked with some hints of roasty malts, licorice, vanilla and oak. Finish is again heavy on peaty notes, with some smooth licorice and wooden notes. Awesome if you like Islay whiskies, but the peatiness dominates perhaps a bit too much.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.33l bottle shared with Ina. This one is as black as the knigh, and it has a small light bubbly chocolaty tan head. Smells really smoky. Woody, peat and salty tar. Some roasted hints but the rope sea-smoky thing totally dominates. I like it. Itís thick and oily on the mouthfeel with a soft to average carbonation level. The taste is even more dominating on the smoky flavor. At times, perhaps a bit to much for my tongue. Peaty smoke, some saltiness and deep roastiness all the way. A bit one dimensional perhaps, but tasty. 22.09.2012

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
@ Basunen. Trevlig och tydlig whiskydoft. Smaken är inte alls så rökig heller ganska len och mjuk. Mycket fat men ändå balanserade toner.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bought this by recommendation from the shopkeeper at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam! Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, oak and peat. Flavor of malts, coffee, smoke, tar, peated whisky, oak, slight sting of alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, some alcohol in the finish. Might just bee the best beer i tried so far! Great recommendation dude!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. I poured quite aggressively (from high and fast) but still hardly any head. Brown in color, though. The beer is almost pitch black. No, itís not pitch black. Light penetrates the fringe of the surface, revealing a very dark brown (almost black) color. The aroma that mostly comes through is a noticeable whiskey. The flavors are nice; some whiskey at the start, some mossy smoke and some sweetness. Mouthfeel is smooth but not creamy. Finish is a bit of bitter smoke.
The BA in this does not come through as hints; itís very noticeable. The aroma, and to a lesser degree the flavors, of Scotch, are not my thing. But still, this is a good beer. Iím a fan of imperial stouts. Aging it in an Ardbeg cask canít ruin it THAT badly for me!
