4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle@Home. Heavily peated aroma. Black, small brown head, good lace, pours very thick. Sweet, chocolate, liqourice, coffee but mainly lots of peat. Full bodied. Not very easy going obviously. And I must admit you gotta love peated whisky. But if you do it’s a wonderful beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at Mumsig Miniprovning, Göteborg. Black beer with a very small beige head. Peated aroma, smoke, whiskey, tar, cocoa, dust, some licorice. Smoked flavor, bad coffee, peat, soot. Floral notes, but most of all soot and smoke. Way too much, hiding all other potential flavors.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Ober. It pours very dark mahogany with tan like head of foam. The aroma is full and rich as it pulls up some band-aid and car tire store but also a mild level of chocolate and dark roasted malts in the background. The taste is similar with a mix of rich chocolate and dark roasted malts and then running quickly into band-aid and some mild smokiness. It ends with lingering chocolate goodness and thin rings of dark roasted malts that help urge you on to take another sip.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2012 On tap at HaandFestival 2012. A black one, topped by a dense, dark beige to tan head. The aroma has generous amounts of peat, as well as roasted malts, some coffee and a touch of iodine. A bit too heavy on the peat I think. The flavor feels a bit more balanced, there’s still a solid dose of peat, but there’s more room left for roasted malts, coffee and the bitterness. Full-bodied, sticky-sweet, warming and lightly bitter. Although too heavy on the whisky, it’s a nice beer, but I know several other Emelisse beers I’d rather have. Rating: 7-5-7-4-15-3.8. 120504
Bottle. Looking clear in the glass, dark brown in color and with some beige bubbles on top. Quite oily. Very peaty nose with roasted malts and some licorice. Too peaty I think, and that goes for the rather boozy flavor too. Some medicine notes. Lasting peated finish. Full-bodied, oily and warming on the palate. Too much on the peaty side I think, but far from bad. 120817
