Bottle @ DØE meeting. Pours black with a small light brown head. Arom of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, whisky, oak, peat. Flavor of malts, coffee, smoke, tar, peaty whisky, aok, booze. Medium body, soft carbonation, slight alcohol burn in the finish. 190912

The Ardbeg barrel aged version of Emelisse Imperial Russian Stout. Thin beige head, colour totally black. Strong peaty and whisky-like aroma, bitter chocolate, restrained candied fruitiness, coffee powder and ashes. Velvety and powdery mouthfeel, concentrated flavour, dry and very smoky with strong roasted bitterness, peaty and alcoholic finish, but not too wry; whisky is present from beginning to finish, as if it were effectively added - not very subtle, actually. Interesting and complex enough, though.

Bottle. Black with a light brown head. The aroma is fruity and dense, with shovelfuls of peat. The flavor is sweet, peat, some chocolate and dark roast malts. Recommend sharing a bottle but one to yourself is quite an experience. Not my favourite of the series even though I enjoy an Ardbeg from time to time.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is peaty, chocolate, taste is sweet and chocolatey, thin, dry and peaty.

Great imperial stout but have a hard time finding the ardbeg
Poured an ardbeg supernova next to it and the beer compliments the whiskey.
Overall a great beer with an explosian of taste

Drank in Tilburg 08-07-2014. Good beer. Hardly any carbonation. Smells like oak/roasted and smoke (strong smoke). Different BA taste than normal, hardly any sweetness or bourbon hints. Very complex taste of dark chocolate, coffee, slightly roasted, smoke and a lot of other flavors that I can’t name very good. Nice.

Pours black with a fizzy creamy head, rests down to a ring.
Aroma has peat, smoke cigar, slight alcohol
Taste is sweet up front followed by peat, cigar roasted malt, slight hop bitterness.
Full bodied, low carbonation, thick mouth feel.
Peaty, smokey after taste.
Sure, the barrel ageing takes a bit over hand but hey, I love peaty stouts. :)

330ml bottle, pours black with very little head and little fizz, the aroma is chocolate malt, a little coffee, but mainly peaty, smoky aromas of the Ardbeg whisky balancing the malt sweetness. Very rich and moreish, abv evident but drinks well and balanced.

330 mel bottle. Pours black with very light head. Aromas of peat smoke and black coffee. Flavors of peat smoke, grass, heavily roasted malts, vanilla and coffee. Smooth smokiness that does not get overpowered by the ABV.

33cl bottle from BierNavigatie. Dark brown (almost black) with a small tan head. Full body with light to moderate carbonation. Sweet with some coffee and herbal tones. Coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, wood, herbs, warming alcohol and dark fruits. A woody imperial stout with a nice whiskey vibe.
